There's a very good reason for the drop. When Destiny 1 had run its course, Bungie had created a small and fiercely loyal fanbase for that game. Those players lived and breathed Destiny. Most of them probably played no other game. They might not have been like the poor saps in the "Destiny Support Group" video. Hopefully no one died because Xur was selling Ice Breaker, or lost their family because of the Oversoul. And we can only hope no one did THAT to the game. However, those fans would have followed Bungie anywhere, and I mean ANYWHERE, as long as D1 had been more of the same. They would have followed them through swamps, oceans, or lava pits. They'd have followed them up a hill of hungry fire ants, down a sinkhole full of quicksand, across the fields of Antarctica in July, through a nuclear winter, over Mt. Everest, under a thousand electrified guillotine blades, or into a hospital on Free Chili Pepper Enema Day (yes, that really was a thing once). And all Bungie had to do was KEEP DESTINY 2'S META LIKE DESTINY 1's!! But... well... they didn't. They betrayed their loyal fans, courted the casuals, made nicey-nice to the PvP tryhards and Esports crowd. And one by one, three by three, ten by ten, their loyal players went elsewhere. Some to the Division. Some to Monster Hunter. My clan leader went to Rainbow Six Siege (and I never even got to finish Leviathan or play Eater of Worlds). And the casuals moved on, and the PvP tryhards took one look at the "balanced" Crucible and turned up their noses. So now... well, Destiny 2 is in a precarious position. Some players, so addicted to Destiny that they couldn't get into anything else (and don't think some of us didn't try!) are still present. Others are trying the game and learning to like it on its own merits. But because its central fanbase was so badly decimated, the Destiny franchise is going to need time to recover. Time, and a lot of good decisions by Bungie: with Anthem coming fast, and the Division's issues mostly addressed, they can't afford to keep alienating people.

  • The game is beyond fixing at this point. It is fundamentally broken, and would require such a massive rework of nearly every conceivable system that bungie has no hope of ever getting it even to D1 levels of fun. Look how painfully long it takes for them to make the tiniest changes. It's trash. It's over. Move on. Maybe destiny 3 won't be complete garbage.

  • Problem... because I was stupid enough to upgrade for this game, and got a lemon PS4 that barfs out disks, D2 (downloaded) is one of my few reliable games. Arghhh.

  • That sucks man. Past the warranty period too I suppose... bummer. Me, I'm an xbox guy and I switched over to PUBG in December. Frankly, I don't miss playing this dull game at all. Forums are still good crapper reading though lol.

  • Leviathan is a decent raid, I think. Withholding opinion on Eater until I get to do it. Problem is, there's no good loot for raiding.

  • Having beaten the leviathan raid many many times, it sucks dude. Its not hard, there's not intense moments like VOG, its 3 puzzles and a boss fight (puzzles I've taught to a 6 year old first grade kid, on prestige mode) Eater of Worlds is a glorified strike with a chest in the middle. It would take under a half hour if the steps puzzle loaded faster, but it loads as slow as it does to inflate the time spent in the raid. Same with the Initial fight - waves of enemies held off to spawn to make you feel like it takes longer. This game is a joke.

  • Eater of worlds is what it's meant to be: a raid for people who don't have time to do a raid.

  • it takes just over an hour to complete the leviathan raid, on prestige mode. I could start Leviathan raid while you start EOW, and complete all three challenge phases before you ever even get to argos. Granted, if you aren't the brightest, and by brightest i mean less smart than a first grader, you might struggle with the raid and die a lot, but it doesn't take time to beat if you play it right.

  • LFG. I bounced to 3 or 4 different clans because this game was so shoddy no one wanted to keep playing it. Eventually turned to permanent LFG to complete raids, got bored of the same boring shit with new players, and quit the game.

  • I was a D1 day 1 vet. Loved playing that game in it's entirety even during the dark times when 95% of your legendary engrams were turned into blues by that bastard rahool. Loved raiding and helping noobs learn the tactics. Loved playing trials made it to the lighthouse about 40 times and helped take some friends lighthouse v cards. My friends and i would often dream of it's endless potential to be truly amazing. It was never a perfect game but that didn't matter. It was the perfect game for me with it's many imperfections. It was the most epic roller coaster of emotions game. You could spend hours messing up on a boss fight in a raid with your buddies and never lose sight of the goal, one minute you would be pissed the next you mess up again and just break down laughing. Finally take the boss down only to get a piece of gear you already have. Maybe perhaps you have a friend log about 40 hours into the game and they are rewarded with a gjallaorn while steam is coming out of yours ears damn well knowing it took you more than 1,200 to get yours. D1 had mostly everything i ever wanted in a game infinite rng loot, fun pve content and exhilarating pvp. Everyone thought D2 was going to ruin their lives just as d1 did for so many of us, it was supposed to break the mold of what we thought destiny could be after 3 years of mastering their craft and constant feedback. I had a clan of 100 people in the beginning often times 2-3 full pages of players online playing... That lasted about a month and a half. Slowly people started to abandon the game i cleaned up the clan roster by removing about 25 players that haven't completed a single activity since October. There are many more that haven't played since nov/dec. Now you would be lucky to see 2 of the remaining 75 players online at the same time. It's sad... I'm sad... i miss the rush... I miss being a guardian...

  • I am in the same situation. I don't like the idea of having to LFG on Leviathan and World Eater since I've never completed the former and never even done the latter. I don't like trying strangers' patience like that; I much preferred learning alongside my raid group as we did King's Fall and Wrath. But they've moved on.

  • Problem is, we do that, we allow the haters unlimited downvotes. We don't need to give those weinerheads any more power than they have.

  • I wanted a game with a loot grind like in D1, and D2 was not it. I went back to the division, and it had some of the loot grind that I was looking for. Unfortunately like with Destiny, you can only do the same things so many times before you start to lose interest in it again. I decided to give warframe a shot after a two year hiatus, and I have found my game that lets you grind for loot the way that you want to do it. You can play solo, or you can match make for a group. There are other games I would like to try, but they aren’t out yet.

  • Grinding for loot only makes sense if there's (1) still loot to grind for and (2) it's good loot.

  • I'm sorry to say but Anthem may not fully be what you are thinking, will it be good maybe? as in 50/50. All these games now I'm taking with a grain or a cup full of salt.

  • Anthem looks cool but I'll wait to see what's going to happen or a road map of what they are planing after the game is release.
