There was some weapons worth complaining about, whereas others were just complained about because people were bad at PVP. Lets not forget that Destiny 1 was primarily a PVE game, same with Destiny 2. The whole primary / secondary / heavy wasn't that much of a problem lets be serious. People just like to whine. However, personally I do not have a problem with the way the setup is the now with the kinetic / energy / power.
Here's a thought for everyone... why not have a mod system which allows customisable rolls for guns which are disabled in PVP and guns would just have their base value stats?

There were no weapons worth complaining about. If you think there were you are part of the problem.

Hey, ive never been one for calling nerfs. I suck it up when i die. Buf there were deffinitely 1 or 2 problems guns worth a complaint back in d1 when i think about it. Like back when the dot on thorn was so strong you could 2 tap anywhere on the body and walk away for the kill. That kind of thing just kills all creativity. Remember when crucible was an out and out thorn fest. Some days i loved it, some days i hated it. I still disagree with how overboard the nerf was though. It neutered it. I remember vex was a menace too for a brief period, and maybe suros if my memory serves.

Then we’re in agreement

Some guns were OP and that's just fact. If you didn't find Felwinters Lie with shot package and range finder OP then there's a problem there. Some people just don't know how to have a mature discussion about things on this forum, nor do they have the sense to see what's right in front of them.

Felwinters was fine. It could be countered. You must be a sniper.

No other shotgun compared to that monster, Felwinters Lie with they perks. I admit I sniped, I shot gunned also. All depended on the map and how the game was playing out.

Something has to be best. That why the nerf cycle is unavoidable. There are always plenty of people around who think that whatever weapon is best, or even most used, needs to be nerfed.
