Destiny 1 at roughly the same time in its development was not significantly different. That is, D1 at the time of The Dark Below DLC. And in my opinion therein perhaps lies the crux of the issue. People are naturally going to compare D1 which was out for nearly three years to the current game. It may be a subconscious consideration but it's there nevertheless. And in my opinion, and as such can neither be right nor wrong, is at least part of this entire debacle. That is, some are comparing the content of what was nearly three years worth of development to what has been out for a little over three months.
Yes, they made changes that were not asked for, However, I for one was never under the impression they needed the communities permission to do so.
And although some of what was done is obviously not liked they did what they felt would make the game better in some ways. That is not to say I am in any way defending what they did. And as I've stated numerous times I am simply offering one possible explanation as to why they did some of the things they did. And what I believe to be a rational consideration on their part.
For example, the removal of variable weapon rolls that has resulted in so much consternation where I offered a comparison to the weight of boxing gloves. Simply put it may have been done in order to maintain a level playing field so to speak. And if so, I understand. However, that should not be taken to mean I either like or support it which often seems to be what happens.

D1 was also a huge disappointment. Being compared to the first Destiny is a negative thing.

Edited by zNapSack: 1/5/2018 3:40:30 AMI don't recall claiming it was a huge success that was flawless in every way and liked by everyone. No, that was not what I said, nor intended. I was simply offering an explanation based on the communities reaction where the comparison is often made or alluded to.

So why even bring it up?
-
Why? Because it's often brought up. It's obvious many here are angry about the changes that were made. What game are they comparing those changes to? Chess?
-
I didn't bring up any changes

Edited by zNapSack: 1/5/2018 3:49:21 AMDid I say you did? I'm simply offering an explanation for why they may have done what they did and why people are reacting to it. That is all. I am in no way defending Bungie nor making disparaging remarks about any particular individual. Nor am I arguing against anyone in particular nor directing my comments toward anyone else. I'm neutral with respect to such things. I understand WHY people are upset. I get it. I play the game as well.

I think you might've responded to the wrong comment originally

Edited by zNapSack: 1/5/2018 3:57:03 AMThat's certainly possible. I'm not omnipotent and able to follow 5,000 posts simultaneously. That said, my thoughts on the matter are universal. I am careful so as not to come across as disagreeing with, let alone attacking, any individual. I may debate a topic with someone or point out a flaw in their logic, but it's not as though I'm claiming someone is stupid simply because their viewpoint is different than mine. Even though this is a forum on the Internet I try and maintain some semblance of civility which frankly is often rare in that regard.

I guess that shows just how bad D2, actually is. So many people now have this revisionist view that D1 was this great game, it wasn't.
-
Indeed. D1 was certainly not without its flaws. Nevertheless there have been many posts here which in some ways often make a comparison to it in some way, directly or indirectly.

Edited by zNapSack: 1/5/2018 3:58:50 AMThat was my point entirely. Reading what was said is one thing. Understanding what was said is quite another. Hence I try to make myself clear as to what exactly I'm referring to.
