>People zealously defend Bungie and say Activision forced them >Kotaku releases article showing that for once it wasn't Activision behind the money grabbing scheme >Also completely remade the game 16 months before launch which throws hundreds of hours and content down the drain for no reason at all >Swapped game director for no reason at all >Zealots still defending Bungie >mfw
Getting D2 done in under a year and a half is good work from the devs. Looking at other Bungie games and DLC and there is a pattern of reboots, some very late in the development cycle. It's something that really needs looked at. The best of the content won't have been ditched. It'll likely be released as part of a future DLC (eg. the Dreadnought was originally intended to be part of Destiny but was later changed and repurposed for TTK) . People will call it cut content even though the reboot didn't allow time to incorporate it into the story and/or time to complete it before release and/or it didn't fit with the rebooted story. Luke was promoted to game director for D2 as a reward for the work done on TTK and also because management believed D2 had went so wrong that it needed a reboot. A reboot often works well with 'new eyes' so to speak. People will always defend something. In the same way that other people will always complain about something.

  • Somehow, I am not happy with them selling cut content that was supposed to be in the main game. I was trying to find a video of Bungie saying making armor, ships and weapons were easy, but couldn't find it. I did find a video showing the Lighthouse that looked almost done and this video was made in 2013.

I can get where you're coming from, and it's fair comment. Personally I don't believe that they're creating things then purposefully putting it to the side to release later. It seems that the development process often goes wrong somewhere, there are numerous assets that don't fit with the new story so need to be dropped. I'm fine with them not being discarded and instead being brought back later, further developed or altered then fitted into an update/DLC/expansion etc... It'll save the time needed to create something entirely new when something suitable was already there. In turn that should release some development time for other work.

  • If said scrapped content isn't on the disc, then I am fine, if it is on the disc, then I am angry.

  • That's very understandable. Think I've said that a few times myself.
