Player Feedback: Masterworks and Modifications

Since the release of [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/Update/46536]Destiny 2 Update 1.1.1.1[/url], we’ve been monitoring player feedback concerning the Masterworks. We’d like to give you a list of items that’s on our list to address. We don’t have a specific date for when these changes would take place, but we’d like to give insight as to what teams at Bungie are aiming to accomplish: [b]Player acquisition:[/b][quote]• We’re implementing a new mechanism that we can use to limit long dry spells in Masterwork drops due to bad RNG. • We will also be looking at adding some guaranteed sources of Masterworks, but we are working on a broader plan to improve prestige activity rewards and it might wait until then. • We’re watching overall drop rates and usage over the holiday and will adjust drop rates and material costs as needed.[/quote] [b]Masterwork Inventory Management[/b] [quote]• We’re planning a fix for Masterwork Cores not going to your postmaster if you’re full on Consumables. • To help prevent accidental loss of Masterwork Cores, we're extending the dismantle timer to give players a larger window to stop the process.[/quote] [b]Stat Bonuses[/b] [quote]• Right now, the stat bonuses are small tweaks intended for players who want to optimize very deeply. We’re watching feedback and are excited to adjust or add more stat bonuses in the future. Once we have more information, we’ll share our plans with you.[/quote] Additionally, the in-game UI currently doesn’t have a good way to show all of the possible stat rolls.   • I think they should remove the weapon trait on every gun and turn them into mods. There would be mods for each weapon class for balance. Obviously we can't have a sub machine with explosive rounds, but you could have an origin story with rampage, or tap the trigger, or kill clip or any other auto rifle trait. This would be the only customization option for the weapon. Scopes and barrels and stats choices would stay the same, for balance. This way you can have 5 of the same weapoon but use it for different situations. This is the best way to still keep the balance bungie wants and to give us the customization we want.

      • The communication is refreshing and appreciated. I don’t expect an answer to this but I’ll try anyway. Regarding masterworks, which I admit do have potential, why is the one stat that could actually benefit each weapon type left out of the drop pool? I’m betting the answer is pvp balance. Again. Even if left unanswered. Sad that the same heads seem to be butting against the same walls, just while wearing different hats.

        • Throwing numbers onto items in your game does nothing. Your vague descriptions of stats and perks are a very lame attempt to trick all of your players into thinking they have a choice. We all know that the numbers in this game do absolutely nothing. Don't be fooled by this guys 10+ to a stat doesn't actually change anything. Not all of your players are retards bungie. Stop treating us like we are. The reason the numbers don't matter is because Bungie have decided that this game is Space COD instead of a true looter shooter rpg. Your grey weapons are just as good if not better than exotics and legendary weapons.

          • Masterworks are interesting from a crafting perspective (it’d be rad if we could dismantle Masterwork weapons into unique parts and actually create entirely custom weapons, TC: Wildlands or Fallout style. What if you dismantled MW gear in order to obtain a specific part for a gun or armor set you’re trying to put together. If you want to brandish a certain kind of sword, you could grind to get the right hilt or blade or whatever...you see what I mean. Anyway.) but right now they’re not super compelling. They appear intended to replace the random roll function of D1, which was a fairly fun roulette to play, but the rolls lack in the usefulness front. A lot of people here are noting the lack of perks like Firefly and such, which I do agree with. That mechanic should return. Also do consider injecting something more complex into this whole Masterwork idea. It’s a good start, just needs to be fleshed out a little more...maybe into something more dramatic and interactivity intensive. *cough* custom crafted gunz and gear *cough* :-P Thx for reaching out.           • You can save yourselves a lot of headaches by just giving back random rolls instead of trying to come up with ways around giving us what we want. It's never going to work, so stop trying and just listen to us; we are giving you dopes a roadmap straight to our hearts and wallets.

            • The perks on their own don't amount to much for making the weapons really worth the Grind effort. The only reason I like and actively pursuit them is the making orbs perk. With those on, a Super is now something I will actually use more than a couple of times in a strike. Please allow us to add these sorts of perks (especially the orb generator) to exotic weapons.

            • A step in the right direction but... While the masterworks have been a welcomed edition to the game, I can’t help but feel they don’t add a great amount of difference in PvP, or at least I haven’t noticed any significant difference in the crucible when using my masterwork uriels or masterwork better Devils (I’ve been lucky). On the flip side the PvE is a lot more fun and genuinely helps with super generation by dropping orbs! You could maybe even afford to turn it down a notch (or not, it’s very fun where it is). I would like to suggest to that as part of the masterworks for armour you look at burn resistances to accompany any other plans you may have, this would also translate into crucible where our characters could potentially have (let’s say) 10% resistance to the same burn type they come up against? Failing that maybe 10% resist to weapon types. Overall I am pleased with the changes and look forward to the future changes. The grind has returned and many of my fellow clan mates/friends are pleased.

            • Most people don't care about "+10/+5 wathever" status. That wasn't what people asked. People asked for the return of perks like firefly, field scout, outlaw, triple tap, etc. All of them randomly selected from a list of possible ones. Is that so hard to understand? Putting an extra perk (and a pretty weak one at that) on a "static" weapon is not what people asked. Stop pretending that this is what was asked. It's ridiculous and sad. BTW.... "We don’t have a specific date for when these changes would take place" kinda remembers me of when Rise of Iron was about to go live and you guys said that "Vault space would be getting an improvement with no specific date." Wich ended up as being 30 of February... A.K.A. NEVER.

                • Mods and eververse area problem I’ve both earned and purchased bright engrams and it’s frustrating to get more blue mods than anything. I would like to see blue mods less and more of the content I’m playing for like ghost, emotes, armor ect...

                • Perks such as outlaw, horseshoes and hand grenades and firefly. No one cares about stats that make little to no difference. We all want perks to make our weapons stand out from one another. And please scrap dragonfly. It’s useless. Firefly on weapons for PvE was invaluable.

                  • Thank you for the additional info! I was thinking about re-rolling my MW Perfect Paradox for range. This post saved me some cores for sure. I appreciate the progress towards more transparency and faster communication. Here's some feedback... Two things I like about Master Works that surprised me: (1)The golden embellishment when a MW drops is a great little detail. I've transferred some MW weapons back and forth just to enjoy the animation (2) Trying to produce as many additional orbs as possible during a strike, and then seeing that number in the post-strike stat feed provides a fun little side-challenge to spice things up. One thing I don't care for after 1 week of experiencing the system: Core RNG after dismantling a MW seems to detract from the experience. I get excited every time I get a MW. That excitement is quickly quenched when I only get 1 core if I choose to dismantle. If I get 3, my excitement simply persists. It is not increased. I personally would appreciate a flat 2 cores instead of a chance at 1 to 3. Thanks for taking the time to listen!
