Three of coins is a Destiny 1 experience, and one that most found to be well worth the investment in strange coins. To release a worthless version in D2 would only compound the cries that D2 is greatly inferior to D1. This is a very positive consumable from D1 that players will be able to compare directly to D2. I would think they wouldn't want to make it an inferior experience in D2. If 7 hours of grinding with a 3oC active gives zero exotics, it's truly worthless. I hope for whatever reason your experience is not representative, or that it's bugged with a promise from Bungie to fix shortly.
