This feels like a step in the right direction, but action will be the final determination on this.
I've been holding out now and am down to probably the least amount of Destiny play since the announcement of the conclusion of Destiny 1, D2 just hasn't had that same magical feeling that made D1 a fantastic game. This is really going to be a make or break point for a very large number of players in the community, so I'm hoping that the critical points are heard loud and clear.
Personally, in the order of importance for me, the following are must-do changes:
1. Revert the weapon system back to Primary, Special, and Heavy, and increase the power of weapons in PvE to bring back the feeling of power. Remove special ammo drops from PvP outside of one player pickups (How power ammo works now), and heavy ammo only dropping when killing a player in their super to balance the gameplay.
2. Revert the subclass system back to D1 style node selection and instead expand upon the system adding more options to choose from.
3. Reintroduce random perk rolls on gear, add raid specific perks to all raid gear, and PvP specific perks to IB / Trials gear.
4. Buff abilities on classes, and make cooldowns much quicker, there is no reason to suppress the fun factor
5. Reintroduce the ability to replay missions, strikes, playlists at will
Those five are absolutely critical to me personally. Outside of this, I would like to see these points touched upon:
* Removal of tokens in favor of a D1 style economy
* New classes
* New elements
* More to do in patrol
* New endgame PvE options
* New raids with each DLC, not these silly "Raid Lairs" that revisit the same locations
* More inventive strikes
* LARGER DLC offerings (I'm talking 15+ missions, 3+ strikes, with each DLC)
* New enemy types, races, we need something new and inventive, not a rehash of the old.
* Bring back the power to exotic gear, there should be a reason to want to hunt these down
* Quest exotics, hidden exotics
So pretty much everything you've already seen, but it's important to put repetition on it so you can see that it's a common feedback point.
Know that I'll be waiting patiently for this tomorrow, but as I've said since the beta, you've got a long way to go, but this is a good first step.

They wont address any of that.
-
I agree with you 100%....sad part is it won't happen,
-
I agree 100 percent!!! I’ve played destiny since beta in 2014 and I live for it. I’m really disappointed in destiny 2 vanilla, I would really hate for this game to be a waste. Remember youtubers and twitch streamers helped keep this game alive
-
While i want lots of classes with deep skill systems and abilities....its not realistic to expect that kind of change, maybe two years down the road but not now. Easier things like weapon damage ranges, making tokens not the focus point of loot acquisition (but rather a supplement for vendors to mitigate RNG unfairness) and fixing rewards for PE, Strikes, ect are things they can do in a much shorter period of time and will return a sense of progress and accomplishment for playing. Would i buy an expansion with three new classes and an extra layer of skill progression across all characters? hell yeah. but thats serious development time to make.

I really love the move of 1 shot kill weapons like shotguns and snipers to power weapons. They are power weapons and should be thus limited. Destiny 2 crucible is so much more fun and balanced than D1 because you can now run around and have strategic battles instead of creeping around corners and taking one shot.
-
Sadly, in some of the games I've played on Xbox, the talentless little kids still creep around corners with power weapons (fusion and shotguns). They have no guts to face you head on. What I truly miss from D1 crucible - MAYHEM CLASH! It was ridiculous fun.
-
Shotguns and snipers aren’t one shot kill in PvE
-
I agree with everything you said except for new classes. Titan, Warlock, and Hunter are the most fundemental aesthetics for any mmo. Titan: Tank/Knight Warlock: Mage/Spellcaster Hunter: Assassin/Archer It would be better at a lore standpoint to nust add new subclasses, not classes.
-
There is no true healer / buff class
-
Healing rift, empowering rift, tether.
-
I said class. Not subclass. Weapon is shield from vog Super is anti whipe. Grenades provide buff or debuff Option to be weaponless
-
I will almost guarantee you that none of these things will happen , sorry . Most of this stuff would involve rebuilding the game completely . I just can’t see them doing this for a second as much as I would like it as well . The best chance we have is a re launch like taken king next September . If my theory is correct I don’t think I’ll bother .

Edited by WATCHMYTHUMBS: 11/28/2017 11:47:28 PMI'm a game developer... lemme have a crack at this... #1 Can't be done it's too much of an integral part of the new balance/meta/economy (Also the upcoming DLC's are done or almost done so you can't change something so woven in, sry) ;( #2 Could be done, but it's a step backwards so I doubt it will be done. #3 Won't happen on existing gear, could be added to new gear. Adding to old gear will destroy any headway on weapon balancing. #4 Totally could be done but I think the pushback would be immense. Some enjoy the shooter aspect and there were many complaints about players linking supers in pvp and 'gaming' the system. #5 Not sure how far off we are on this one... You can replay 3 story missions a week, strikes are same as D1, Nightfall is the same... not sure what you're lacking? *1 Won't happen, don't see the benefit, I think it's a subjective call. Personally I think you are wrong on this. So many forms of economy became extinct or useless... remember going to the speaker to turn crap into glimmer? D1 had too many economy dead ends. *2 Not gonna happen *3 Nope *4 That has already happened and more can and will be added (watch the Mercury preview) *5 There is already one endgame alternative. Did you try it? *6 Yup that was a mistake, I agree. (Just remember, this DLC was developed same time as the game you are playing now... so...) *7 New maps = new strikes, so it's a crapshoot. Could be good could be worse. *8 Wow 15 new missions? How many missions in the original game? I think it's a big ask. *9 Yes on this one. I think this was disappointing... HOWEVER the modded Siva fallen came out in the last DLC and the taken showed up in the Taken King DLC. So there is still hope! *10 Yes the exotic was phoned in I agree. But more can be released and will be. I think there were an average of 3 new exotics per DLC in D1. *11 The Vigilance, Sturm, Mida were all quests (not sure about Vigilance but I remember doing something that dropped it). However... easy to add to the game... so you may be in luck. One last thing... Within 6 months (approx) the lead team will begin work on (Let's call it Destiny 3) if they haven't already. Some ideas in the creative meetings are great but won't fit into the current version, so they are moved to Destiny 3*. Bungie's big push in Destiny 2 was to move to the PC. Huge things are happening on the PC front (League of Legends and Overwatch) with the tournaments. Blizzard is leading the charge and now Bungie has it's foot in the door. I expect Destiny 3 to be something huge... PC performance, XBox 1X and the PS5 to drop in 1919. 60fps and 4K rendering and much improved processing power. So my feeling Destiny 2 delivered for Bungie, not necessarily for us (console) players. Perhaps the final DLC in this iteration will give us some clue as to what Bungie really can do with the franchise.

I think random perks is a terrible idea. I feel that the possibility perks could drop, and allow players to customize their weapons is cool, but having random perks, which could be trash on a god-tier weapon is a part of Destiny I don't want to play. Imagine: "Oh I finally got my Merciless! *trash perks*... guess I gotta keep farming for 3 more months...
-
I'm with you there... I was just addressing Phantoms lament for the old weapon system. Some of it I miss but a lot of it I don't.
-
Exotics dont have random perks, only legendary or blue weapons
-
To clarify exotics always had static rolls but "where" strong as shit back then For example and im going from the glory days before they nerfed everything into water pistols Icebreaker sniper rifle - regen ammo every 5 sec. Was nerfed to regen ammo every 8 sec Ghallahorn - the most sought after weapon - tracking rocket launcher with smaller tracking missiles after detonation lol Thorn, the last word, the truth and so on....jesus it made me tear up just thinking how "fun" it was before all these nerf BS. Also every primary had a burn which NOBODY ask to have removed
-
Yes tracking rockets that actually do damage and not dodged by "just a jump to the left" lol
-
Yup. Although The Truth was a bitch in the dying days of D1 in crucible.
-
Regarding #1 They could just leave the existing weapons alone, but add new ones for the Kinetic/Energy slots. I don't see why that would be too hard. Sure, that would shift the weapon balance, but it's not like weapons are super balanced right now anyway. Sniper rifles are basically useless, for example.
-
You are correct. New weapons can and will be added. They can come in with new perks, a new perk slot, upgradable mods, we could even see re-rolls on stats and mods, etc. What Phantom is asking for is a reversal to what was the biggest difference between D1 and D2. I think he misses the point with weapon selection. With restriction comes the opportunity to drop weapons that break the mold... like No Land Beyond. A sniper in the primary slot. When that weapon first came out everyone hated it until they were getting owned by those who took the time to become good at it, then they hated it again except this time for a different reason. Some players don't like restrictions at all, why not choose a load out of any six weapons prior to event and divide them 2 into primary, 2 into special and 2 into heavy? Doing so could activate a 'dormant' buff. So all weapons would have a primary buff, a special buff and a heavy buff, but those would only activate when placed in those spots. See we can all come up with cool solutions? Most of the DLC's are already done, they are just dropping them with minor tweaks the game is 90% complete so there is a limit to what they can/or will do. I don't think Bungie is that worried about the player base right now. Their biggest worry is when COD:WW2 drops. So reverting back to primary/special/heavy isn't going to make the required difference needed to 'combat' that impending onslaught.
-
Caution, as someone who has helped contribute to the development of the Torque 3D engine over the past few years, I can tell you right now that your first comment is not accurate. Key points: 1) Wrong, no system is "integral" except something directly related to the engine itself that would require a full re-do of the system, and even then, a larger expansion / title update can sort that out. As for the weapon loadout system, it's far from that, a simple database query can sort out putting the old system back in place (Look at their API, it's all JSON), and tuning the weapons back to D1 values would be nothing more than a statistical processing homework assignment passed off to the sandbox team. 2) This has been something the community yelled at Bungie for back in the beta as a bad idea, so a revert would be far from a backwards step. Players want more choice, not less. This is an RPG hybrid, there needs to be choice. 3) Again, database query. Old gear has had perks adjusted in the past, there is no reason to write this off as something that can be done, and rather easily. 4) The current pushback and player loss far outweigh that. 5) This is simply reverting back to how things worked in D1, if I want to play a certain mission again and again, I should not be time limited to do so. Side Points: 1. D1 had two simple economies, motes and coins. Everything else was redundant, yes and I agree that these should not be brought forward, but simplifying it back to those two would be optimal instead of having these useless tokens everywhere. 2. Easy content for a major expansion (TTK Sized) 3. See above. 4. One new public event that is the "Most rewarding event ever" (sarc) hardly justifies as something new to do in patrol. I'm thinking new activities that are relevant at the endgame, something like heroic lost sectors, or something brand new that hasn't been seen yet. 5. Missing the point, we've had nothing but one endgame PvE activity now for the life of the game (minus PoE), where is the innovation? 8. Let's be serious here, this game is hardly "Complaining about the amount of story content" worthy, they need to start going bigger on their content updates if they want players to hang around. Most people aren't looking for things to be simpler or streamlined, and definitely not in the favor of PvP, which your complaints against my major points clearly have me looking towards your personality as favoring. Deployment of updates are not as limited or far-fetched as you may believe them to be, but I think the huge thing to remember here is that this QA post is about the longer term, not something going to drop at CoO, which is why my major critical points are valid, and something I would need to see happen. I absolutely understand for instance that loadouts won't change with CoO, but it's definitely something that can and should be done before the next DLC drop.
-
you got to get some hope dude
-
Right? Nobody complained about D1 weapon system, or getting gear too easily. Let us CHOOSE and BUY OUR GEAR from VENDORS. Cut the slot machine crap! What was wrong with the way it was in D1? Nobody complained about it. It was a change made just for the sake of a change. Most of the changes made were completely unnecessary and made just to slow us down or to entice us to buy more from the Eververse. Remove the disposable Shader system and revert it back to D1.
-
Well they did complain about weapons , shot guns / snipers . However much I hated shot guns and snipers I think this was a dumb change . All they have to do is put it back as was BUT as it’s always a crucible complaint limit the ammo BUT don’t take away that ammo when you get killed . Pretty simple really .
