And after about a year, the special playlists had hardly anyone in them. Matchmaking SUCKED. The only playlist that routinely had enough players to get good matches in was Social. I played it till the servers were shut down. it was good but looking back, hated when host left, lag switching was real (and easy since all you needed was a laptop to figure out how to steal host) and a plethora of other things.
What kept me playing Halo 3 over the years was going in with a team of 5-6 and betraying each other. The MP had gone to trash after a year.

I think you're mixing up Halo 2 and Halo 3, because I remember it quite differently.

I remember it quite differently. Some of my best H3 times were had on BTB and other playlists. I agree that there were a few too many but I think having a bit of variety and customs would go a long way.
