Destiny 2 - Crashes every 3 - 4 mins - PS Pro

Hi there, Not sure if anyone has run into the same issue as me today. Have a physical copy of Destiny 2 (PS4) and have tried to play through the opening mission about 6-7 times now. Each time I try I run into a crash, freezes the screen and crashes the system. Occasionally it lets me submit the report. Every other game I own seems to run just fine but I am not ruling out a hardware issue just yet. Wondering if anyone is having similar experiences and if so how you solved them. I am not ruling out hardware being an issue here but a quick google search shows me a large number of people had this during Beta so it would be exceptionally unlucky for so many people to have a dodgy console. All other games I own work fine Console Details Destiny 2 - PS Pro - Physical Copy - Boost Mode On and Off - Running in 4K PSN: Mauridius Tried: - Rebuilding Database - Changing Resolution - Several different missions - Changing Language Experiencing - Crash / Console becomes unresponsive every 3 - 4 mins. - Error Code CE-34878-0

    • As one of the early posters of this thread I had the same issues.. since then bungie has issued two hot fixes, both with a fix due to a rare memory loss crash. Sony has issued an update as well ,citing performance enhancement.. First hot fix did not work for me, but after the firmware update and second hot fix mine it back to stable conditions. First I tried on a 180i tv, and got a solid two hours.. Got brave and tried on my HDR 4k with all auto settings and another two hours in, no crashes.. Try it now after making sure everything is updated and maybe it'll work for you.. If not watch for more"rare loss of memory" fixes in the updates. Have a feeling no one wants to take blame for this but my digital version of destiny 2 was unplayable before these updates and now I've done, public events, crucible, strikes, story missions, flash points, no crashes!! I do notice when it should crash cause there is a sudden frame rate dip at times but no crash, I don't know about you guys but I'll take that.. Let me know if it magically works for anyone else.. >=)

        Same here STILL, and it's September 23. This issue is NOT resolved bungie. All sorts of error codes. And yet I have all the ports open for Destiny 2 and a hella fast internet and 5GHz router. And can't even play a full Crucible match without getting booted. No other game has this trouble: GTA, Call of Duty, no one! Why is Destiny the only game that has this NAT issue stuff? We love the game please fix it! I don't get NAT issues since I opened the ports but still I am getting kicked every 3-4 minutes. What is going on between Destiny2 and PS4 Pro consoles? Sincerely, Vaard (happy to help get this resolved though)

      • I fixed my issue. Mine would freeze every time I tried to go through the tutorials. I literally tried for an entire 7 hour period during the beta. When launch day had come around and it was still freezing with CE-34878-0, I tried every thing (rebuilding the db, reinstalling the PS4 firmware, boost mode off, HDCP off, heck I even dropped the resolution down to 720p) I had to dust off the old ps4 to play. BUT - I'm not encountering the issue any more after actually hooking up to a 4K monitor (had used only a 1080p monitor when the freezes were occurring). Video output info: 4k resolution - 60Hz Color Format RGB HDR (Not supported) HDCP 1.4 (My monitor does not support HDCP 2.2) And I even have boost mode turned on. Just finished a 6 hour session without a single freeze. Hope this might help someone.

      • Last 4,74 update from Sony helps me to resolve this crash issue on pro. Before i could play as long as about 1,5 hours and after that crash, crashing issue appears also for about 30 minutes of playing of even 4-5 minutes sometimes. After download this path i played yesterday about 8-9 hours without a single crash do you have the same scenario ?

      • I am having this same issue but not with ps4 pro. Just with a legacy ps4. It is the same error code and it happens about every 30 min or so. I don't have this issue with any other game.

          • I bought the game 1 day after release and got the ce-34878-0 instantly. It happend to me in the Beta aswell when i got to Zavala when he opens the door. Hoped it was a beta issue ( brother in law didnt have it ps4pro he has ) and hoped for better times not playing the beta. Now a week in a have had the error code 193 times and the interval went from around 10 minutes to every 2 minutes. I`m not a rage quiter or a person with low lvls of patience but this kind of problems know to #bungie from the beta should have been resolved already. I did everything i could even went to the shop to get a new disc, forwarded ports, made static ip switched UPNP off DMZ off , tried WIFI and LAN connections used internet from my neighbours to try, initialised my ps4 reinstalled my game 5 times now ( after a fresh install i can sometimes play 30 minutes before it blows out ce-34878-0 again ), switched HDCP off, set my PS4 ( normal edtion from launch ) to 720 resolution and i even connected pc cooling fans to my PS4 to stop it from becoming to hot ( never been an issue ). It never went awayl. I`m in awe now, how can it be that a game that sells 1.3million times have such an issue even when it was known in the Beta already ? My PS4 is a normal PS4 500g bought when the PS4 was launched and has never had problems with games ever. Played all games that gave problems to players and never had them happen to me. Please #bungie fix this problem because at the moment you are losing the interest of a day 1 destiny 1 player and i`m sure that there are people with a lot bigger temper then me that are already lost interest and stopped playing. FIX IT !

          • With the new PlayStation update 4.74 my D2 works fine on my pro. So far after 5 hours of playing i havnt crashed or freezed. I hope the update helps all of u as well

          • So day of launch I get the ps4 pro destiny 2 bundle and the same day is when I find out it crashes and doesn't work on the ps4 pro. I looked on several forums to find a solution and most of them keep saying to turn off certain settings and to lower graphics quality (or reinitialize your entire system, yeah, not doing that). As you can guess, none of that worked. My fix: I turned up all my video settings as well as turned on HDCP and boost mode. So, 1080p, full RGB color, whatever else I could turn on or up. And I've been playing for the past 6 hours without a single problem (well slight slowness in the Farm but nothing bad). Not sure how this worked but it did.

          • Just wanted to drop by. I've posted several times on the reddit but that's quickly fallen away.. I purchased my pro about 8 months ago and have no issues with any games. I've played Diablo 3 recently (with the necromancer update) and experienced zero issues. I have attempted everything that the original poster has tried. At times, it will work for 30 minutes and then it freezes. Sadly, it completely freezes my console and forces me to unplug the unit from the wall. Not only is this time consuming (now we have to run diagnostics on the console.. and again on the external hard drive) but it's surely not good for the hardware. A lot of people seem to think that's an issue with the hardware. I find this incredibly hard to believe. Comparing this to Tomb Raider seems impractical. Horizon works great and that's running in 4k at 60fps. Has anyone had any updates on this issue? Bungie simply needs to issue a temporary update that removes their 4k upgrade. Yes, it may lock us at 1080p but at least it will be playable. There's really no justification. I'm thankful that I have a spare ps4 hooked up to a smaller TV but I know I would be livid if the pro was the only console I owned. 4 hours of trying to get it to work on my pro was enough to make me want to toss it out the window.

            • Even though I got the game (PS4 pro Bundle), I can't play it because I can't make it past the damn Homecoming mission because every single time it crashes. I've tried the known possible fixes like disabling HDCP and/or Boost Mode with no success. Bungo plz

              • Same here since day 1 of release.. in my opinion, it's NOT my PS4 pro!!! I e had it for a yr now without ANY issues till D2!!! Really hope they fix it soon! Been a week already!

                • And I spent $90 on a digital copy of this????! What's the point of buying this game at launch just to have to wait even longer to play it? Give me back my money. I'll wait for the PC version, this is bogus.

                • I imagined the hotfix yesterday of over 4gb was the day we PlayStation players could play without worrying about crashing. Thank goodness mine crashes every 2 hours (usually) so I can play a bit, but some people on here can't get passed homecoming. Still the same b.s. of "we are investigating". The way this is being handled is quite shocking...

                • It's so frustrating. Bought the digital version on my pro. The first crash came up after i met with zavala and now every 4 minutes after the fall. Several time's i had the game to re-install, i thought that might would help. But nothing. Please, bungie take this serious. Hope we can play the game as soon as the problem is solved and have fun with it.

                • i have the same problem but on my Xbox one and its annoying i payed $100 for a working game and i got a peace of trash. I've spent the last 3 days trying to figure out what it was and it was the game i am having the same problems with destiny one. Bungie PLEASE FIX THIS!! I think I speak for all of us when i say that.

                  • Reboot router while the console is ON , it fixed it for me. Since doing this i have not had one crash. Not sure why this would happen and might explain why all other content is fine on the console. Last night i was getting crashes after few seconds in the EDZ , so i opened up my router home page on my laptop and selected restart.After the router restarted not a single crash ( did it create a new i.p for the console and or new rules in port forwarding ? ).

                  • I wanted to update everyone with my experience. My white destiny 2 ps4 pro was freezing every 5 min on destiny only. Yesterday I took it back to gamestop and swapped it for another of the same bundle. I have not crashed since and played all night.

                    • Yes, i contacted PlayStation support because of the intense annoying DESTINY 2 CRASH and FREEZE issues. They told me to backup and INTIALISE my entire system. Yes i did that and guess what: It didn't work at all...no.....the issues with Destiny 2 are even worse now. ..... Error Code CE-34878-0 is yesterday.                         • I had same problem I even initialized my pro and it didn't help. I installed it on my other pro and I can usually play for about 4 hours before it crashes and freezes. Don't know if this helps but that's what I did.

                          • Well here is also my story. I also got Error Code CE-34878-0 and freeze shit on my pro. First time i played i got at about 1,5 hours of playing - and again and again in next 2 hours. Crtical issue i had in last story mision, the freqnency was about every 3-4 min. And also here are my findings abut this. - Turning off boost mode didn`t help at all - Turning off HDCP didn`t help at all - Rebulding a database din`t help at all Still the same scenario. Only when i reduce resolution into minimal one from options menu (720 p) it helps a bit and i was able to play about 5-6 hours without a single crash. But try to play destiny 2 in this -blam!-in quality :( it`s a nightmare.
