So I'm sure everyone has been reading/watching the PC Beta announcements and trailers this week. The selling point here seems to be the "uncapped framerate" slogan plastered just about everywhere. I realize they get a different pvp map; but obviously that is not enough to sell the hand-me-down Beta that they get to experience.
My point here is that Bungie is trying very hard to grasp the PC audience, but constantly promoting the uncapped framerate option for that version of the game. To me, this is a direct confession that smoother gameplay at higher framerates is a boon to a game, and something that should have been incorporated into the D2 engine for the console version.
Don't get me wrong, you can allow PC to go up to 240FPS with a 10,000$ Alienware for all I care, but 60FPS should have been standard on the updated current gen. There are plenty of FirstPS that run at 60FPS on console. For Luke Smith to say that the PSPro or the leaked Scorpio specs simply can't do it, I'm going to say that they aren't trying hard enough or that Luke Smith is directly lying to us.
So what does this all mean? Why make this post? The takeaway here is that console players are getting an inferior product, on purpose, by design. We are not getting even a comparible product. Also, PC version is getting a 2nd staff to moderate their servers and content, a double-panel of security and help that console versions will not be getting. Now I don't take anything away from PC, but for all intents and purposes, your "console" did not contribute a damn thing to the survival of this game for the last 3 years, and to be automatically promoted to "golden goose" because of hardware freedom seems like the ultimate betrayal. I don't like it. That's how I feel.
And I suppose that is all I have to say. Thanks for reading. I hope D2 isn't trash.

60 fps on console would be too unstable in PvE.

4 RepliesEdited by RPColten: 8/17/2017 12:03:35 AMMy takeaway from this post is that you're upset that the platform that can support specific video capabilities is receiving said video capabilities while the platform that can't support it isn't getting it. Is that right? It's kind of confusing. I'm more inclined to take the word of the people that are making the game to know what they are talking about in terms of performance capabilities over some forum-surfer (like myself) that says "Oh but title X on PS4 Probiotic does 60 FPS, so they're wrong.". ...and PC is being promoted to "golden goose" because it is Bungie's first venture into the PC realm in a decade or more and they want to deliver a respectable experience for PC users, so they are committing themselves to make sure that it goes well. What is so wrong with the team wanting a solid experience to be had? If you really want the same experience that the PC users will be getting, then maybe it is time that you invest in a decent gaming rig.

1 ReplyMy guess is it's all about money. They know console players will buy any sheznet they put out, so why bother spending money coding for 60fps.

Bungie is like this rabbit...it needs to be put in a box and smashed.
