Go make a new character and play destiny 1 without all the gear that increases super and ability charge time.
The charge time in destiny 2 doesn't seem as slow now, does it?
The longest you ever wait for your super in D1, is 5 minutes. Thats with no gear as well. D2 already is longer.
-
It is linger by about a minute now.
-
Well the average time it took me to finish the strike in d2 was around 17 minutes. And during that time I would usually get my super 3 times, and I don't use it every chance I get. So if it is longer it's not by much.

To be fair, In D2 killing ads (in this beta) doesn't supply extra super energy. In D2 it only charges with time.
-
It's not as noticeable, but it still did.

Look at some of the perks on the Subclasses from the beta. Dawnblade has a perk that reduces ability cooldown when you kill enemies while suspended in the air. Voidwalker has a Devour effect that returns health and extends time when damaging enemies, and kills while Devour is active reduce the cooldown of your grenades. I don't miss the D1 ability tier system anymore
