But, to those of you who haven't played it yet.... (majority of you) I ask you this.....
You cannot read the ingredients to a meal and know what it tastes like until you try the meal, now can you?
Edit: I have seen a lot of these answers: "If one of the ingredients is a turd, I know it will taste bad" BUT, in what world is a turd ever considered an ingredient? Not sure where you guys are from, but, no meal, in the history of ever, has ever included turd on the menu. Plus, nothing a little sweet baby ray's bbq sauce cant fix! lol
Also, this post: " If you mix nasty ingredient A, with disgusting ingredient B, you know that will probably taste bad" That's a fair point, but what if you had never had any of the ingredients? How the heck would you know if it tastes good or bad? That's ultimately what I was stating. We aren't talking about ingredients you HAVE had, we are talking about ingredients you have NEVER had.
Good discussion tho folks!
Does this mean I am internet famous?!? I was directly quoted! I am honored!

Final edit: Let me elaborate on the subject: Since we have seen about 5-10% of D2, what if you only knew 5-10% of the ingredients, do you think you know what the finish product will taste like only knowing a fraction of the ingredients? The answer is no. No way you could possibly KNOW. Have a hunch sure, but no way you can know!
Either way, I have seen very few posts that resort to name calling childish accusations. So, thank you all for being a civil as you have been!

If I got food poisoning from a meal and got a similar looking meal, I would be skeptical of what's in it.
-
It's called being skeptical and people have a right to be.
-
I notice no one is calling a reskin any more. lulz.
-
I was super optimistic after the reveal stream but I will say I'm becoming increasingly worried. The homogeneous weapon rolls is a MAJOR disappointment if it's true. Rare weapons is what kept me playing. I never would have grinded (and enjoyed it) the nexus strike if there wasn't a fraction of a chance to get a fakebringer. A major allure for me is to have a rare roll on a rare weapon. Without that, I'll switch to something else very quickly.
But, to those of you who haven't played it yet.... (majority of you) I ask you this..... You cant read the ingredients to a meal and know what it tastes like until you try the meal, now can you?
But you definitely know what the ingredients taste like before you have said meal. So it's safe to assume you can make an educated guess as to how you may enjoy it.

Destiny 2 is looking to be more Destiny. In relation to your analogy, if you like chicken and someone offers you more chicken with slightly different spices and such, you will probably like it. In a similar vein, if you don't like chicken then handing you more chicken won't make you like it. Do you like chicken/destiny then you'll probably like destiny 2/more chicken.

I've never read anything so stupid in all my life!! I know I would not like s#it soup without trying it! People know what they do and don't like in a game! You're comment is so condescending There are elements of d2 I'm sure I'll enjoy but there is a lot which I already know (without playing it) that I will absolutely dislike Playing it will not change my mind in the slightest! This is only my opinion No private matches! No rumble No 6x6 Only 1 person gets heavy All guns pre rolled
-
Garbage analogy, try again bud.
-
If I eat in the same restaurant every day, with the same chef and waiter, for 3 years, when someting new does come on the menu, I can pretty much tell what I'm going to get by looking at the pictures, and reading whats in it. I'm going to try the free sample, but its pretty much going to turn out the same as the reveal event.
cant read
All i took away from this post.

Edited by Mar: 7/2/2017 5:43:09 PMthis is actually calmer than it was around this time in destiny 1... hopefully that trend will continue and internet hate mongers won't go around the whole of the internet hunting destiny players to scream at and insult them for a year to a year and a half again... that being said, if you think this is bad better buckle up... the beta will only make things worse. Unless a bungie employee personally comes to every players house and hands them a suit case stuff to bursting with money and then acts as their personal servant for the rest of their lives for playing the beta people will start getting pitch forks and torches and start trying organize marches on bungie's offices... wait and see, its happened before (halo reach *cough*). also on a side note... that is a really bad analogy, you CAN in fact tell how something is going to taste by reading ingrediants... if someone said "this dish has beef cheese and potatoes" you can tell EXACTLY what its going to taste like, its going to taste like beef cheese and potatoes... really really bad analogy.

Wherever you go, you will find hate about anything.

Who gives a crap? If you like Destiny and want to buy Destiny 2 then good for you. If you don't like Destiny and don't want to buy Destiny 2 then don't. I don't see why people feel the need to post their salty reasons for not buying D2. Who cares? It's a video game.
-
Nice analogy
-
Thats perfectly fine, because all the haters said they wont buy anything past the taken king so after they bought rise of iron and then saw D2, they cant possibly buy it so only the positive players will be in destiny 2. They CANT possibly lie and buy D2 after saying they wont spend a single cent more can they!?

Every year billions of meals are sold in restaraunts based on people reading the ingredients and/or looking at pictures and ordering the meal because that' sounds like it contains the things they like to eat. Similarly people don't order things that contain ingredients they don't like the taste of. If you are disappointed in a restaraunt it's usually because you really liked the description but the meal turned out not to live up to it, not because the description sounded inedible but you ordered it anyway.

Edited by CookieNiki: 7/2/2017 10:57:54 AMIf there's one or two ingredients I don't like there's no way I will even start making that meal, let alone try it. Pick another analogy.
-
I like how you assume any form of legit criticism is hate. Just look at kelly He knows more about culinary than you What happens when core ingredients are being pulled out? Hard to fluff a cake without yeast. No chocolate? No difference in layers? It's gonna be one bitter ass cake
-
Awful, awful, analogy.
-
Well....while I agree with your intended statement...ironically, with experience, you can accurately imagine the taste of a meal by reading the recipe. It really doesn't take culinary genius to know what baked potatoes and lamsrack with thyme taste like if you have eaten all of these before.
-
These people have no pallet. They still eat children's food from their baby spoons.
-
Holy crap get over yourself "people don't like a game I like wah wah wah" quit being a bitch and get a move on
-
We haven't played it? What the hell have the last 3 years been then?
-
Actually as a Chef (of many many years) I beg to disagree with your analogy. Would all depend on the complexity of said recipe. And besides....if it predominantly includes an ingredient I don't like (like tuna) I know it's highly likely going to be something I won't like even without tasting it. As for the D2 recipe I can already pick out a few "ingredients" I'm not partial to but will reserve judgement for later.

Edited by [Sláine]: 7/3/2017 7:16:10 PMYou want a shovel for that hole your digging? Your argument is like Swiss cheese bud....full of holes. Bad analogy...just admit it. People are seeing things they like being removed from the game with no sign of any replacement. People aren't stupid...they can see that things don't look good for D2. Lame excuses from Luke Smith and bad bad communication only makes it worse.
-
The same people that thought Blink needed 3 nerfs, buffed auto rifles by 0.04%, and got us to the worst meta in 3 years are working on Destiny 2... isn't that sufficient to be skeptical about D2 being good?
