Yeah Toland's universal blablabla, it's all BS.
Why? Because Oryx lost. The Apex of evolution and what Toland saw as the universe perfected? Yeah they lost. The principle is useless and Guardians have proved it time and time again.

Toland wasn't wrong, the "country of armies" doesn't necessarily mean the Hive, it means any group or entity that's ruthless about surviving. And his analogy is for the whole history of the universe, not just current times. The idea of the City is working now, but he calls it the dream of small minds because he thinks the "gentle place ringed with spears" model won't be viable in the long run, ie. to the end of the time. What the Sword Logic calls the "Final Perfect Shape" has not failed, the FPS is whatever is still alive at the end of the universe, Oryx losing just means he wasn't the right Shape. The Darkness doesn't care if Guardians are the FPS.
