TTK did it for me. It was a nice punch in the arm the game needed, but TTK itself was over-hyped to me because the core changes (not part of TTK) were probably more important than the content. After a month of TTK I was basically done. Played a little in April and leading up to ROI, but 3 weeks after that I was done again and I'm not interested in it anymore. Tired of the same leftovers being rehashed, tired of them charging for content they took away, and tired of the general anti-consumer practices they use (which you know is driven by business metrics for Activsion to some degree).
Year 1 was not the best, it had HUGE quality control issues, weeks of feeling like you were making NO progress or getting anywhere and loot caves were more fun than much of the content. That being said, it did have a particular "magic" about it as when you did get that item after all that grinding, it felt like an accomplishment. That is ALL gone in year 2 and 3. Everything is generic and nothing is very "exotic". Also, these events and the cosmetic chase the game turned into were my straw. It's WAY too targeted for young kids now.
