Who else agrees Nostalgia Goggles clouds the judgement of Veterans?

It's not nostalgia for everyone, there were certain aspects of it that were much better. Primaries weren't trash like they are right now. We had something to stop people from aping everyone in every engagement.
-
It sure does. Remember how everyone complained and talked about how bad this game was during year 1 then all of a sudden year 2 rolls out and then everyone has year 1 held on a pedestal.
-
That clearly says destiny has problems, right? Year one, "terrible" Year two rolls out, "year one was better" It's the game dammit, META is the dumbest $hit I've ever seen. before you say it, it's not normal. EVERY weapon should be viable, but come with a downside. Destiny's mechanics are broken and highly imbalanced.
-
So you're saying all weapons were viable during year 1? I think Thorn (the handcannon with the range of a scout rifle) would beg to differ. There's always been a meta in this game and there always will be a meta.
-
No, they jumped the gun. Players had just begun to work their way through the Arsenal. Many other weapons could have easily gone toe to with handcannons. Bungie's first NERF caused a ripple effect. These ripples caused players to pick up new guns each time another one was nerfed. Which in turn made that gun type seem overpowered. Due to multiple nerfs, the choices of viable wepons was cut down to that weapon type itself.
-
But I'm not talking about handcannons overall I'm talking about Thorn. The only thing that went toe to toe with Thorn was another Thorn and maybe Last Word if your were close enough.
-
As a year one vet, I can say you're absolutely right. Year one had some good qualities, but overall it's better now with most of the bugs worked out and improved overall balance.
improved overall balance.
No. Not this.
