Sniper Rifles
- I believe that an overall reduction in flinch would be an incredibly solid buff to sniper rifles. It's almost ridiculous the amount your reticle bobs all over the place when your being gunned at by a high-caliber pulse rifle. In my opinion, flinch makes this game not fun, and is a mechanic that should be heavily adjusted.
- A reduction in body shot damage, with increased headshot damage on mid high impact snipers would be lovely, please reward us for sniping a storm caller mid Ionic Blink.
Good post but I couldn't disagree more with this point.
I think an argument could be made that Destiny has THE lowest skill cap snipers among any FPS.
Weapons overall have an insane amount of Ain Assist compared to other games, combine that with no sway and no bullet drop off on snipers and you have the problem we had before the nerf.
Inclusion of flinch was a necessity and should stay as is.
Sniping in destiny is WAY to accessible and in no way should they be designed to trade shots with any other weapon in the game.
Someone shooting at you, you know what, use your freaking primary and shoot back. You window to snipe them has now closed.
We should not go back to that quagmire of sniper shit that was pre flinch

Definitely man, sniper flinch is whatever in my opinion. The point of my post was mostly to comment on primary v primary flinch as a frustrating game mechanic due to HCR. Gunfights shouldn't be RNG. My only issue with sniper flinch is that it punishes aggressive sniping, and I for one would way rather be quick-scoped by some amazing player than hard-scoped from some dude posted up in the back of the map. I try to take everyone's side in these situations. Sniper flinch is meh though, whatever happens happens. I'd just like to make sure primaries are put in a good spot.

Edited by YourVillain: 12/15/2016 1:16:17 AMMy concern regarding primary is why I made the post. I feel like that are in the best spot they have been in a long while and I don't want the destiny devs getting in there and dicking it up just to address an unnecessary shotgun issue. This is coming from a player that has more primary kills on each class of weapons than any secondary and my most use secondary is a fusion followed by a side arm. I have no dog in this fight I just don't want them messing up the primary balance
-
The issue with shotguns comes from primaries inability to counter them in the current meta. People are never going to stop complaining if something isn't done.
I have no dog in this fight I just don't want them messing up the primary balance
The problem when it comes to primary balance, and when I mean primary balance I'm talking primary v primary gunfights, is that the clever dragon with HCR simply has no effective primary counters right now. - Handcannons get outgunned at short to midrange unless you get a lucky 3 tap - Scouts get outgunned at long range - Auto rifles like the Suros will lose even if you got first headshot and continue to get headshots Primary flinch created by HCR make the gunfights RNG, and that just shouldn't exist in an FPS videogame.

So what I'm getting out of that is that your gripe is with HCR perk and not specifically the weapons. Yea, I've kinda been in favor of HCR due to my dislike of the sniper meta. I don't think its RNG because that would imply a complete lack of control. You are being hit with a specific perk that is designed to cause a specific effect. That's not really random but I do get what you are saying. Your aim shouldn't be effected by being shot. Still not sure I agree but I get what you are saying. I think the main issue is the ttk on high rate weapons and it seems it always has been. High impact slower weapons have always gotten the short end of the stick due to the TTL equation. Although I really enjoy it what really is the purpose of the first curse when all hand cannons are a three shot kill. Same goes for pulse rifle so yea, some tuning there would make sense. It's probably because I haven't broken out of the average bracket but I still haven't had much of an issue since sniper meta is gone. I'm having fun except for there need to break up teams unnecessarily and the lag

I have no problem with high RoF pulse rifles. I have no problem with HCR on scouts. Flinch isn't a bad thing, I think it's a fine mechanic and as annoying as I think it is I don't think it should be removed. My problem with HCR is that on a high RoF pulse, if you are getting shot by it, you have no control against that. Controlling HCR flinch is impossible that's what makes it RNG, there are times where I try so hard to control my shots against HCR and there is literally nothing I can do.
I don't think its RNG because that would imply a complete lack of control. You are being hit with a specific perk that is designed to cause a specific effect.
The effect is amplified on a weapon that is high RoF, making return fire nearly impossible and unable to control. A CD v CD gunfight is literally RNG, it doesn't matter who has the better shot what matters is the amount of flinch generated by the game on the other person. Maybe I'm beating a dead horse with this one. I just find that flinch lowers skill gap, which might be the intention of the perk.
-
Well putting that way I guess I see what you are saying. It also seems the only answer is to get rid of HCR because that is the intended effect of the perk.i don't see any other way around it
-
funny that because i dome people all the time while theyre shooting me, you know why? 3 words, no land beyond. i find it highly ammusing when people think that they can flinch me with their high calliber rounds clever dragon and i dome them after theyve got me 1 shot, so what you gonna say about that douche bag, because no land has the pre weapon patch flinch settings that you dont want back and is incredibly easy to snipe while under fire? i know make all the snipers like the NLB in other words reduce the flinch to how it was before and just reduce the aim assist a lot, increase the skill gap but dont listen to this idiot.
-
Yup, ya got me... How can I argue with such a well reasoned argument. You shown me the way, it totally makes since that a sensitive long distance scope isn't effected by someone blasting you in the side of the face with bullets. You win the internet
Asshat
well if it was real life then yea but guess what buddy, its a video game , games are ment to be fun

Edited by YourVillain: 12/14/2016 7:43:50 PMAnd it is fun...you don't think this game has held the hand of the casual gamer enough already?! Snipers in most games have sway, bullet fall off, decreased accuracy while standing up... Destiny has none of that and you also want a steady scope under fire so you can easily trump pretty much any other weapon except another sniper. Being forced to use a sniper just to compete, that sounds fun to you? Also three words for you... 50 Aim Assist That's how much NLB has on it, which is pretty average for a sniper so you saying decrease it to NLB levels. Some will go up some will go down so you have essentially suggested nothing but going back to how things were... Or Oh wait, you didn't know that did you ? 😲 You thought....you thought you were pulling off all of those amazing "dome" shots on your own?! 😂 Nope Bungie has been holding your hand the WHOLE time. Welcome to reality kid.
Also, there is no Santa, it was your parents the whole time. Life is full of surprises
i said reduce the flinch so its same as nlb you idiot, i said reduce aim assists on all snipers, your clearly a stupid kid who doesnt know anything
-
Edited by YourVillain: 12/15/2016 1:00:26 AMOh yea, I typically don't do this but...
i said reduce the flinch so its same as nlb you idiot, i said reduce aim assists on all snipers, your clearly a stupid kid who doesnt know anything
You know what you did wrong... Gotta get that grammar correct when you are insulting someone's intelligence, otherwise you just look silly.
You look silly
-
at least i understand what people are saying you dumbo, just because you are crap at sniping you want it to be easy for you to kill them, the problem is not that sniping was too easy, the problem was brainless predictable noobs like yourself not having the intellegence to know how to deal with them "wahhhhh im too stupid to find a way to kill snipers, nerf them so i can spray them with my clever dragon and flinch them into the sky"
-
Edited by YourVillain: 12/14/2016 11:51:29 PM
i know make all the snipers like the NLB in other words reduce the flinch to how it was before and just reduce the aim assist a lot, increase the skill gap but dont listen to this idiot.
Indeed you did say flinch But you also said this...
because no land has the pre weapon patch flinch settings that you dont want back and is incredibly easy to snipe while under fire?
So basically you want snipers to return back to as you said "pre weapon patch flinch settings" and "is incredibly easy to snipe while under fire..." Also, you have no idea how terrible you probably would be without hanging on the Aim Assist tit so yea when you did say reduce, not remove, I assume bring it to the NLB AA of 50. Which I had to assume considering how poorly you make your points. Too bad that don't make AA for logic flow. You could use some of that.

Well said

I couldn't agree with your reply any more. Very well said.
