KD isn't everything. I've played with negative KD players who have amazing commutation skills and follow instructions very well. I've also played with high KD players who lack in the brain department and mindlessly try to kill everything with no game plan.

KD does matter lol but not in trials IMO it's more of a team effort and positioning in trials

KD can be be a poor representation of personal skill. People with super high KDs got it from playing with a stacked team and pubstomping which is super easy. I've seen super high KD players get destroyed by lower KD players who don't pubstomp.
