Thorn is the answer to the current meta
I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm finding that Thorn is the most effective solution to dealing with all the hard scopers who are plaguing the Crucible right now. Nothing gets people moving like Mark of the Devourer. Some will be brave and still snipe at you anyway but the majority duck into cover when their screen turns green.
Don't get me wrong, I do my fair share of sniping and by no means do I think that snipers are truly balanced. However, seeing as it doesn't seem like Bungie is intent on changing the way they work, I have seen the power of the dark side and have changed my position when it comes to the most controversial exotic weapon this game has ever seen.
For those who vehemently stand fast that Thorn is a crutch weapon, I would also say that it is by no means easy mode anymore. HoW era Thorn was garbage but the current version of it, dare I say, seems kind of balanced now.

Lol "hard scopers" what is this CoD? Thorn would only be a counter if it had sniper range and accuracy again. Mostly the accuracy. Any scout rifle can counter a sniper, just don't miss any of your shots to keep the flinch going. Shotguns are still a thing Fusion rifles with near max or max stability work Pulse rifles still work High RoF high stability ARs are deadly in the right hands even at scout range. It's kinda hard to aim if there's a storm of bullets hitting you. Also, shade step and twilight garrison really help. I do feel that snipers in this game shouldn't be able 2 shot kill to the body. It's not really realistic but it would encourage people to go for headshots.

If a sniper doesnt take you out and u have time to even fire a second shot of thorn then they deserve to die!

If they can hit those headshots then i'm not mad i'm simply impressed. I'm a terrible sniper, so i am shocked by the amount of skill people have when sniping in pvp.

8 RepliesThe thorn is no where near what it use to be so i dnt understand why ppl complain dosnt 2 shot anymore and the burn isnt as strong and dosnt last as long and to the people who say its a crutch then more then likely they call every gun they die by a crutch

1 ReplyI was doing this last night.. I'm going to start using it whenever people hard scope all the time.. And I'm a sniper 90% of the time but I run and gun but can also snipe quickly .. I never sit and camp.. But now when people start doing it a lil pop from thorn will wake me up

It's definitely easy mode. That thing is a head shot machine. You could be aiming at mid to long range in the chest area and you'll see critical hits. It's ridiculously easy to use. Me and my friends use it to troll sometimes in 3v3 Playlists. I will never agree that it is a tough weapon to use. Easiest primary in the game.

2 RepliesI'd have to agree. It's hard to not have "Vietnam flashbacks" when my screen turns green in current crucible, but it's not nearly as deadly as it used to be, still good, but not op.

5 RepliesI see a lot of talk about "thorn being back!" And yes, I have seen more thorn in crucible lately... That being said, I don't think any of them have killed me in... Well not since the REAL thorn meta. So why is it the answer...? Because most people carrying one around either are bad with it or the weapon isn't performing how they insist that it is... So which is it?

If you're worried about snipers, try Doctrine of Passing. They have a hard time hitting you with a barrage of bullets hitting them.
