i'm a solo from day one... originally i primarily used patience and time, camping sniper, then i moved in to hanging out with other people on the maps - eventually you'll just naturally evolve into being a part of the team - watch each others back, usually the good players gravitate towards each other. i usually play control or clash... i found what works best is to play like a spider if you are a solo - become the spider use less travelled paths between point A and B... hunter is my primary, yet as a titan striker, i would stick to a scout rifle and recently a sidearm... once you find your zone, you just use the force or some shit and become the game... i got my first phantom medal yesterday and didn't realize in the process of getting it. LOL
