Being playing Destiny since Beta and my K/D now rougly is 1,39 and it still goes downwards. My main class is Titan and I generally use Striker. Since I am on a diet and restricted myself to not use shotgun anymore, Sniper is my weapon of choice.
When I play Destiny or any game for that matter, I feel like I am getting worse and worse. Whenever I get killed by Warlocks and Hunters, I tell myself they are to OP. But when I go against the Titans in the crucible, my ass gets snatched. The way I aim, whenever I make decisions in a situation or how I approach one is... bad. I don't know what I'm lacking but things just gets worse.
But there times when I do good, the sniper feels just right and I make great moments in Crucible. But things has just gone down for me. Why are some people good and somebody like me just gets worse at the game? I've been playing FPS games since 10 and I'm 19 now. I just don't know what do to, what to analyze or how to use my brain when I play the game, generally Destiny.
I would be happy to get any tips or tricks if they can help me.

Every gunfight doesn't have to go til someone is dead, know when to pursue your enemies and also when to make a tactical reposition to draw the enemies back to your teammates once you are weakened. Sometimes you can kill an entire team at a heavy ammo spawn for points, and taking the heavy away from the other team will allow your team members to mow them down with their heavies. And controlling the zones! That's the only path to victory!

Their's a lot others have said, but from me, use your super at the right time. Try doing this in 3v3 playlists, especially Trials/Elimination where super really matter. A Striker's Fist of Havoc should be used when another super (a mobile super specifically) is on sight, so Sunbreakers, Bladedancers, Radiance, and Stormtrance. As for Golden Gun, you better pray. Other situations may be when you see a group of three or more people crowded up together. It's risk/reward when attempting to smash them. Another time is before heavy drops. Either rush and destroy everyone who is next to the heavy, thus claiming it, or hide and strike. Try using an Insturmoutable Skullfort, ACD/0 Feedback Fence, or the Helm of Inmost Light as those are all Striker specific exotics that can be useful.

1 ReplyOne of the things I believe that leads to being a consistent player is tilt. Tilt is considered to be your emotional state during a game, positive or negative. Sure you can have a lot of positive tilt after doing really good in a match, but negative tilt can be drastically detrimental to your performance. Examples of negative tilt are freaking out or raging after a death, or saying things like, "how the -blam!- did he kill me!?!?!" Remaining in neutral tilt, or slightly in the positive will affect your game in a great way, and probably make you a better person while you're at it. -- Review your games. Record some parts of games where you die and aren't sure why, or just record large chunks of games and just rewatch them. Identify your mistakes and learn how to improve to not make said mistakes again. -- Watch other players, typically good players, play PvP. People such as MTashed, Kjhovey, etc., etc. and learn from their gameplays, particularly the little things such as popular spots on maps they lean towards or particular corners and sightlines they snipe at. MTashed has a Crucible School video series which I highly recommend watching if you're really wanting to improve your game as well.

Kill Xlyar and get the year 10 primary gjallarhorn

Back in halo days i had a mlg bud who all he did was set up 1v1. Work on 1v1 and view every interaction that way If you can win head to head match ups, you will be surprised how much you will improve. Stay away from getting jumped obviously, and situational awareness matters alot but 1v1 is huge
-
1 ReplyI would like to add something that i am trying to improve for myself also. It is mobility. What i see in good pvp players is that they are full aware of their all movement in all directions, especially vertical ones.

Use OP guns that don't take skill. You'll win every time

1 ReplyStealing wifi from your neighbours or having shit internet in general seems to work well for some people.

Be sheep, be like everyone else. Be boring. No, be a clone of top 1% with all the same weapons.

Setting up the engagement to work in your favor is perhaps the most important part. Before you engage and enemy or see that you are about to be engaged, quickly form a situation where you have the better location. Predict what your opponent might do. Acknowledging what class they are and what weapon they use will help. Also, by knowing your weapon and pulling back at the right times or pushing hard you can learn to always have the upper hand. I'm in the top 1% but there are many players who I know are better than me. Try watching Twitch streamers like AEGabriel, TripleWREAK, or Grenader Jake. They have all been in the top 10 in the world. You could learn a few things from Gabriel's stream since he plays primarily as a Striker.

1 ReplyIMO I watch alot of streamers. I see how they make there decisions. I also record my own gameplay seeing my own mistakes. I also know when to challenge and when to back off. Those are all my opinions tho.

Something that I find helps is recording your games for review later. Instead of grinding forever in Crucible, play a few games, and review what you did right/wrong that day.

Edited by TronCat: 12/30/2015 8:47:35 PMMost people's kd is dropping right now. Unless you're playing stacked where you can play badly but still do alright.

Use defender.

3 RepliesIn control Stay with someone, always follow someone. Team shot enemy or play clean up. Or hang back and pepper a zone with bullets and use your grenades to soften up or finish an enemy. Don't just run head first at a enemy, that will come later when your more confident.

Shooting things in the face typically helps.
-
I would say learn to control your emotions for starters and then develop your own 'style' and add your own flare to your play. Playing like yourself helps and then start adding different types of weapons to your bag tricks to add the cherry on top.

You have to stay calm and learn battle strats that will keep you alive in most fights like, jukes, weapon combos, character abilites, ext.

Edited by Fat Chocobo: 12/30/2015 6:40:57 PMIf you're going to use your sniper, play slowly and stay away from the action unless you are confident in quick scoping. Also they don't have to be head shots, I quickscope melee with my warlock often. Also, your radar is the most important thing. Always watch it, even when you snipe make sure to unscope to check your radar every so often. Play with a fire team and stick with them if you can

Switch to hammer of sol you can be the worst player in the game and still get a good k/d
Its destiny only try hard scare about k/d so your good man
1 ReplyTip #1: Keep an eye on your radar. Getting three headshots with your trusty 1000 Yard Stare is great, but not when you're scoped in for an hour and half and don't notice the four people behind you waving. By being cautious I've saved myself from many a tricky situation. Tip #2: Revives > Kills In Trials or Skirmish or anything really "team-based", often times the enemy will grab one of your own unexpectedly, then be open for a quick kill. Guess what? They have their other two coming around the other side and they're ready to knock your other teammate out. ALWAYS GO FOR REVIVES OVER A MEASLY KILL. Those three try-hard preteens who have all had sexual relations with your mother will still be there, trying to quick-scope you. Give them and extra eight seconds to pick your buddy up. This is the most important give I can give, as this allowed me and two randoms who said, "Why not," to go flawless Y1. Tip #3: MQC > CQC If somebody is rushing you with a shotgun right after a heavy drop, what do you do? Blow the both of you up with your nifty Ellium's Frenzy? No! Advance in the opposite direction and gain higher ground to take 'em out! The closer to your target, the higher risk of the hammers and nails a-flying after they blink-shotgun you. This leads me to... Tip #4: Keep the special in special weapon. Sniper rifles, fusion rifles, shotguns - the three archetypes of weaponry inside the Secondary parameter. While great tools to use in certain situations - wait. I can stop here! Good luck getting kills with that fusion rifle from your favorite sniping spot, or no-scoping with that sniper rifle up at the opposing team's spawn. While it may work now and then, using the weapons out of the community's decided-upon "norm" makes them basically useless. So why is it okay to use certain ones 24/7, 365? It isn't. When you get to know your primary weapon, you will start getting Seventh Columns WITH A GUN (over-exaggeration, of course, but you get the idea)! I'll put more later. Got to make a beef stew for the little ones. :)

My kd was a .6 when I started playing destiny. The average across all my characters is a 1.1 now. Just keep playing and see what guns are for you. Don't forget about properly setting your armor to your play style. If you like supers, use armor with intellect. If you like grenades, Max your discipline, etc.
