Just letting u know.

edit: Just found a post by Jstyloz https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/181663062/0/0
he found another article here's the link
http://www.techworm.net/2015/12/evil-santa-lizard-squad-down-xbox-live-psn-servers-christmas.html
edit: The title is a quote from the cnn site, i know that its not hacking its a DDOS attack.
Just be prepared guardians, last year the networks were down a few days, lets hope it will not come to that.
And to all people saying you cant prevent a DDOS attack, i say why not, there is enough advanced technology around, put it to work, there are enough smart people on the planet, put them together and they should be able to figure something out.
What do you think, should those a-holes just stop bothering us, or should PSN and Microsoft up their security?
-
Looks like they didnt do it! Lizard squad are skrebs
-
Stop giving them attention, even posts like this are feeding their ego.
-
But...but...but what about Xûr!?
-
It would suck it it did but best of luck to the "hackers" after last year apparently Sony and Microsoft thought upgrades on preventing shit like that happening again were put into effect so we probably don't have to worry about kids lagging out the servers again
-
I don't believe xbox got hacked last year psn yes. Psn was down for a few days I was able to sign on to my 360 while live was supposedly down just not one on xmas day. But later on xmas night once all the new little kids with there xmas boxes went to bed I signed on without issue. So I believe psn got hacked last year but xbox no it was just servers bogged down by so many xmas noobs.
-
Well, looks like it's time to bring out the true destiny killers
spyro the dragon and crash bandicoot on the ps1
-
They say it's because the big companies don't invest in security yet their not actually attacking their security to make the point. Go hack the NSA and mayb someone will pay attention to your "l33t sk!llz"
-
Jokes on them man I'm getting a wii u for crimbo
-
Edited by DsrGGuy: 12/22/2015 5:11:25 PMScript kiddies does not equate to "hackers," just saying.
-
Sucked when it happened last year, hopefully Sony and Microsoft got their heads out of their butts since then.

You can't really stop a DDOS attack, but just try to whether it out. It's like trying to stop a traffic jam. Imagine a highway with 8 lanes. It works great when only 2k cars per hour travel down it, but when 1 million cars suddenly appear and all try to drive on the highway it's going to clog up. That's a DDOS attack. It floods the login servers with access requests until the servers are overwhelmed and people are denied access. These requests are sent from billions of computers via bot armies that are distributed world wide. It's not like the movies with a single computer taking stuff out.
-
Hopefully they try better this year because I stayed online with no problems last year

You can't up security or you'll completely stop or see the worst lag with incoming packets. DDoS is purely a "clogging" technique. Picture a straw, normally a certain amount of fluid can pass through freely. But, get an ice cube stuck at the and and the flow almost completely stops. That is the essence of a DDoS attack. It's literally jamming so many packets through the "straw" that it gets completely clogged up. The lag becomes so bad all service is basically backed up and you/we must wait from when the time the attack stops, to the time the last multi packets clear freeing up the network. That's what a DDoS attack actually does. There is literally no hacking involved except in the instance other CPU's are harnessed to help mass send packets.
-
You can't stop DDoS attacks unless you have the money to fork out to create filters for that. Why do ya think Google never gets hacked or DDOSed
-
Hit it off line all day what do I care I'll be with my family. Not hiding in my mother's basement like these grease ball children. Wonder what the restitution would be for hitting off a major network for a day would be.
-
I'm sure MS and Sony have a plan. Maybe they have bolstered their systems, or maybe they've set up a sting to try and catch the perpetrators. I don't really care either way, it's just entertaining news to me. I do think it's pretty lame that a group of people go out of their way to ruin a part of Christmas for so many people. If they got caught I'd love to see them get their identities released, and fined so heavily it takes them a couple of decades to live comfortably again.
-
Just spend Christmas with your family nerds
-
I agree with what they are doing, if Sony and Microsoft can't make a decent security with how much money they have and how much experience throughout the years and years they have been around, then they deserve to be publicly humiliated in this type of way, I mean come on.. If this works out it just means they've learned nothing over a year and don't care for the security of their users
-
Let them try, I will be playing fallout 4 anyway.
-
Why can't just do this? We should have the resources:
Step 1: somehow triangulate Lizard Squad and Phantom Squad member's hideouts Step 2: infiltrate each hideout with hired mercenaries Step 3: insert a long nail into each member's big toe then tie them up before evacuating the area Step 4: firebomb each location Step 5: open a bottle of wine, sit down, relax and watch the cyber terrorists burn ⭐MISSION ACCOMPLISHED⭐
If it wasn't for assholes who think it's funny to destroy shit and steal, nothing would need a security system. Every Fgt that calls them self a hacker or has done anything like this or has had anything to do with something like this, should be put on a list to never where they will never be able to even touch an electronic device again....#only takes one asshole to -blam!- it up for everyone...
-
Good thing I'm building a gaming PC then huh? Modded skyrim, here I come
-
Do you know how much it cost to create a network with enough redundancy to prevent a ddoa attack? I don't think its worth it to install such a system for only a couple of days of down time
-
Unoriginal and makes them seem like copy cats. They should step their game up and go after terrorists affiliated sites and social networks like anonymous if they have the skills. Beside didn't some of lizard squad get arrested last year? Why would you want your hacker group to do the same? What's the goal, teach MS and PS a lesson?

Spread the news. Merry Christmas guardians
