Known issue but won't be fixed any time soon. Bungie dramatically misunderstood how MMOs work and built in a difficulty curve that means I'd you miss the boat might as well wait till the next content drop. I would keep looking though always teams running that will run with you. Check i100 site. Best place to find new people to group with
