The grind gets steeper as you get higher light, keep going, you'll get to 295 easily enough without the raid, at 295 most raid teams will take you if it is a normal mode run.
Some lvling tips:
Always keep your highest light gear on when decrypting, ALWAYS!
Complete ALL taken war quests, especially those Eris gives you (some 310 stuff drops from these quests as a set reward).
Work on getting your exotic sword. Search online for how, you'll need a fireteam for the final mission, but that won't be hard.
Grind the court of oryx. Some people are saying strikes, which are ok, but court is faster for looting blues, which can decrypt as high as 299 (300?). Honestly, even after the raid, I still get the odd useful piece of gear here.
When infusing, a difference of 6 or less will result in 100% of the difference carrying over. For example, a 296 piece infused into a 290 will result in 296. If the difference is more than 6 consider keeping the higher lvl piece for decrypting sessions instead of infusing, as equipping it will raise your light, resulting in potentially higher rolls on decrypted gear.
Now you are at 290, keep all exotic engrams for decrypting once you are 300, you then have a chance of them decrypting at 310. From now on o not decrypt any exotics until you are 300!
Finally, run nightfall every week. It is easy to get a fireteam of three and it can drop gear over 300. If you wanna run it tonight and are on xbox one feel free to message me (gt above, I'm on UK time btw) same goes for any other content you need help on.
