Dude, it's totally possible to hit 300 with zero raid completions. You just have to grind strikes like crazy. Collect engrams and wear your highest level gear when decrypting them. It takes forever, but it is certainly doable. The exotic sword alone drops at 310. Personally, I haven't finished the raid. Played through up to Oryx one time. Got 306 boots. That's one piece of raid gear, and my Warlock is 301now. After 300, you'll start decrypting engrams at higher levels once in a while. Just yesterday, I got a 310 Hereafter from an exotic engram. Infused my 1000 yd stare because I wanted to use it with my exotic sword. It's a lot of work to get there, but you can do it. After 300, you're more likely to get into the normal raid. Nightfall now has a chance to drop 300+ gear, by the way. That helps a lot. You technically never have to touch the raid to get to 300.
