You're stating a fact that means nothing? Yes you are. I love using shotguns, but I'm not your average shotgun spammer. The only reason I don't have more primary kills is because I don't spam the same type of primary, I change it up. I usually use Scout Rifles, Hand Cannons, and Pulse Rifles.
I don't shotgun-slide, blink-shotgun, or shadestep-shotgun. I use shotguns only if they're in close quarters, in which I switch from my primary to my shotgun.
Before 2.0, there were mainly only 3 choices as a special weapon.
- Snipers
- Shotguns
- Fusion Rifles
Fusion Rifles were forbidden ground on 2.0, as they didn't even slightly compare to Snipers and Shotguns.
Sniper, they were good. But before 2.0, using a Sniper never felt like it fitted my playstyle...
Shotguns, they did. High-risk, high-reward was a lovely game.
The only reason I have more shotgun kills is because my special weapon slot usually had a shotgun in it, since it fit my playstyle.
If I were to use a Pulse Rifle or Scout Rifle in my primary slot all the time, it would probably be my most used weapon.
TL;DR: I mainly use my primary, at least now. I have use snipers and fusion rifles, therefore, I have a valid opinion. I love using snipers and fusion rifles in PvE also.
