I've got no proof (other than experience) but I'd swear Bungie gives you harder matchmaking when you have these crucible/ weapon specific bounties in order to extend play time. I look at it as beating them at their own shafting.

This, it's like with the crucible questline, easy all the way up until the last win I need then it's matched me against a fully OP geared out pre made team of try hards going balls to wall on my team lol
