You don't have to deal with mobs on the sides, instead you have to deal with explosive thralls spawning right next to you on the bottom.

I agree, that's part of what makes the one orb easier. Doesn't make it faster though.

It's debatable whether it does make it faster. Doing 2 gaze holder method you now have 2 people that need to put most their focus into the gaze, and one more person that will spend about 25%+ of their time focusing on the mobs. You also will have ammo struggles. When I do 1 orb method I go through almost all of my black spindle ammo in a single run, and then I fill back up from the mob drops in between dps runs.
