They have the same function as shot guns and I would rather pull the trigger once instead of 10 times so I generally don't like them.

I'd probably say it is best at killing trash mobs in the medium range, which would make it far closer to a fusion than to a shotgun.

Right? Even with the range it still doesn't feel worth it.
