I haven't really liked any of the ones I've picked up. Have any of you picked one up and liked it?
Edit1: So it seems that only about 15% are willing to use sidearms.
Best use I've seen is possibly in nightfall with associated burn.
Edit2: Things we can probably all agree on. Decent in PvP, underwhelming in PvE.
I have to disagree that we need a 4th slot just for sidearms. They obviously need a tweak ( I'm refraining from using the word "buff" for political reasons). More range, larger mag. I don't know if I want them to have more impact. They need to be different than hand cannons, and be able to compete with other special weapons.
Question for today: Did Bungie just create the sidearm for special-to-primary slot exotics No Land Beyond and Universal Remote?
Edit 3:How does everyone like the IB sidearm? Did anybody get it with a different roll as a drop?

To much recoil.

They're like mini TLW's

I had a 294 jabberhakke with void damage that felt very beastly in last week's nightfall. Other than that, I haven't really been impressed with them.

Edited by TripleJ: 10/3/2015 8:28:16 PMThey'll see a lot more use when they fix shotguns in pvp. They need a small bump in power for pve. Also the vendor havoc pigeon is really good, crowd control + feeding frenzy + larger mag size.

Love them for anything not end game.

Loved my Sidearm during HOW-era Y1. Of course, Vestian Dynasty was the only one. That thing packed a punch when fired quickly enough and it was extremely helpful in the mostly-CQC situations in the Arena. It was also helpful against Fallen in general. And it was a beast when either (or both) the Arc Burn and Secondary burn skulls were on. In other words, the Vestian Dynasty left quite a legacy as my primary go-to secondary over the summer - I really enjoyed it. I was really looking forward to using Sidearms in TTK, but they're actually relatively useless in this context. They're simply okay for story missions. Sniper rifles are generally more useful during Strikes and the Nightfalls. Sidearms are actually almost completely useless for the Raid. Would love it if Bungie found a way to make them more useful again. Until then, I'm definitely sticking to my Black Spindle and my Raid sniper.

I love my JäbberHäkkë That way I can say " I got a glock up in my Rari ".

I would use them if I could duel wield them

Cool and fun to use, but not very practical.

6 RepliesHavoc Pigeon (crucible sidearm) is amazing in crucible

2 RepliesI have a rare one on my warlock that I use all the time. It's absolutely brilliant!

As someone who is deathly afraid of Thrall rushes I love my sidearm xD

Edited by Abewilderedfox: 10/3/2015 7:05:35 PMUseful for the taking out lesser targets without wasting primary during the totems part on the raid.

We got sidearms? That guns must be really bad. Or they are not really special and interesting ironie mode off Sidearms dont have a role in destiny
-
Haven't used them much. I'd rather use a Shotgun or Sniper Rifle.
-
A nice addition.
-
Love the new monarchy one
-
Havoc pigeon has a silencer which makes it fun to use. But beyond that they r terrible
-
2 RepliesSide arms are long range shot guns
