I worked hard to get that gear. The hours spent doing raids to get the Word of Crota and the days spent trying to get coins until I finally bought that beautiful G-horn (insert moans of pleasure). Lets be real, wouldn't killing Oryx with TDB raid gear be the most satisfying thing ever?!?! MY warlock can be like: "F**k yeah I killed your son and robbed his grave, and now I'm going to use these spoils of war to rip you a new anus and then steal YOUR stuff, b***h"

Do you guys play the game? There is like 7 or so useful for almost any encounter. And PVP has become SO boring due to a handful of weapons being overused. I know you guys think its some amazing achievement to get grimoire, but I could honestly care less. And I have absolutely no interest in playing a Titan,Warlock, or maxing grimoire. I play to beat the most challenging encounter, and then pvping. So if you down Oryx before me, feel free to follow up with some s%^& talk. People say destiny isn't and RPG, but the itemization issue is actually far worse. Items need to be left behind so the game can correct itself, and become new again. If you aren't leaning on a majority of the items you received from the most recent DLC, something is wrong. And all HoW really offered my class was Celestial Nighthawk, jump boots, and a few trials weapons (that I ended up not using/dismantling). Current legendary gear needs to start sucking once you start the new raid, or else there won't be any endgame progression. And Oryx needs to be twice as hard as Atheon.

You are missing it. The developers need to have enough creativity to entice us to use the new stuff. The structure of the new DLC should be such that the new items are compelling to use. The way they are doing it is just lazy. We should want to use the new items on the new DLC vs sticking to old standards because it is better for the new threats. They are just lazy, wanted to start the new content from a clean slate so they did not need to be clever / creative enough to make new things more compelling than old. Instead they just punish vet players who like to collect and have choices. I don't even think they thought the repercussions of their actions through enough to realize this path makes all old content pointless for old players and the new players with that boon to lvl 25.

Power creep will be the problem if they continue ascending weapons not to mention the balancing issues that will also come. If you think old gear not moving up with the latest expansion is bad then don't play any mmo or rpg b/c you will always be mad.

Edited by MaarekStele1001: 8/28/2015 3:36:34 AMDestiny despite news is no MMO or RPG. WOW is an Mmorpg and elder scrolls games are RPG's. Destiny has little to no story to emerse the player like an RPG should. It's more like a COD with less story and a stupidly stingy RNG drop system like diablo or borderlands. In any case it is not like existing MMO's so your comments don't really apply. Your comment makes it sound like this was an expectation but Bungie hasn't been consistent. It appears they are flailing and don't know what they are doing. If this was in the plan they never should have made us comfortable with ascending gear just to blind side is like this. Their actions and their statements set a false expectation. With the time many of us sunk into this game believing we were beginning a 10yr character progression and collection, people are understandably feeling betrayed. In any case for anyone who is willing to think it through their actions are not building any consumer confidence. Arrogance in the gaming industry leads companies down the road of Sega and now Nintendo.

No I expected it b/c I have played games like this before, hell many games are like this which is why I find it so weird for people to be shock by this course of action which is the norm. I have even stated in my own post they made a mistake with etheric light and should have stuck with the rule they had set in TDB. They did a little fan service with that choice but they ruin their chance to train people on what to expect in the later expansion. They also never stated that weapons and gear would be viable throughout the ten year plan. That being said people will always complain about something hell wildstar (an mmo) launch with a ton of content and you still had people complaining they had nothing to do. This is a learning experience for bungie as they have never made a game like this before. They will make mistake and use the feedback to make the game better. There will never be anything that is completely set in stone in a game like this. I say you should always expect change and enjoyed the experience you had and if you don't just move on to something you will enjoyed.

Edited by Safari Farnsy: 8/27/2015 10:29:57 PMTry reading the posts over the last week (thou many were taken down).. I'd estimate 80% of the thousands who voiced an opinion were in favour on having the choice to use UPGRADED eqipment - gear they grinded for over the last year!

-
How about deleting your characters and starting over, then? That would wipe the slate pretty damn clean.
-
they may as well have done that.
-
I'm looking forward to wiping my a $$ with the left behind year 1 exotics
-
I wish I could wipe you clean from the forums. Why do you care if people keep their old gear or not? It doesn't even effect you in anyway.
-
I wouldn't mind leaving thorn and ghorn behind it would be awesome tho to bring me to and hard light with us tho.
-
Why leave it behind? Why not have the devs hire someone creative enough to make other weapons compelling to use too? What would be fun is having so many items and choices that are all compelling, items feeding off each other to be a complex thoughtful choice on what items to use. This would be a blast. The choices should be such that there is no one small set of gear to use to accomplish a given mission. It should be such that we can experiment with many choices to discover our own "Destiny" ....

Of course you are. You just barely hit Level 34 on a single character.
