Aye, I cringed twice: '… Surrender the stage to Luke Smith' Boooooooo hissssssssss. Seriously. F*ck that guy. I'm gonna be pissed off with him for a while. And no. I'm still not throwing my money at the screen. And 'Favourite LFG site' Wrong, DeeJ. I do not have a favourite LFG site. I f*cking hate LFG sites, taking a little potshot at us like that was a bit of a stinger. And yeah, I noticed that you and Luke made no mention of making any amendments to this shortcoming. And it's the main (only) reason why I'm not excited for The Taken King. And before you fanboys think of uttering that same tired line: 'Oh my gyard ur soo layzay, u should towtally be just using LFG it taykes like -3.412 seconds and I've got ten gazillion requwests.' No. Just no. That shit is like going to a restaurant, ordering your food, only for the bald headed c*nt waiter to prance over and say 'we'll find you food, but we won't find you cutlery' before directing you down to the f*cking IKEA next door, because the restaurant's 'philosophy' states that finding the means to eat the food is 'part of the experience'. No. I want my shit then and there, with the option to go and bring my own cutlery if I want to. Edit: I've just managed to get my Fanboy Detector 3000 fired up: *6 Fanboys detected, and counting*

  •
'we'll find you food, but we won't find you cutlery'
No, it's like going to participate in a team-based tournament by yourself. They don't -blam!-ing find you teammates, you bring them. Perfectly normal, quit your bitching.

  • Oh so like every other.... FP.... S.... Oh wait. Fanboys like you are embarrassing. We want optional matchmaking or in-game LFG. It wouldn't effect you. Now please slide a few inches off of Bungie's dick, you're turning a nasty shade of purple.

  • As Destiny isn't a regular FPS, it requires a higher level of cooperation than regular FPS. You are not going to get that with a team of people who opt to simply hit a button and get teammates instead of putting effort into it.

  • Button mashing is all it takes to LFG. Sorry I missed the part on LFG where you can tell that the recruit is not 12, know what to do, have experience, and if there was I feel sorry for rookies.

  •
Sorry I missed the part on LFG where you can tell that the recruit is not 12, know what to do, have experience
It's so easy to forget that with a player's GT/ID you can literally look up their entire Destiny history...

  • You might? And using LFG doesn't guarantee dedicated players either.

  • LFG is stastically biased towards more dedicated players as it is more selective and takes more time to finish.

  • Unless it is the only option. Then everyone has to do it, excluding those without the means to do so. That's why people want 'optional' matchmaking. You could still use LFG, where you would thus find more dedicated players, or you can just get straight into a game and be prepared for the consequences.

  •
Then everyone has to do it, excluding those without the means to do so
So it is statistically improbable for me to play with people who aren't serious. This is good. I don't know why anyone would want otherwise, unless they're lazy and/or have no friends. I mean, that is really what it all boils down to.

  • Are you serious?? Have you ever played any other FPSes? I assure you the Quake, Unreal, Tribes communities were a hundred times more competitive and team oriented than Destiny. FFS this game doesn't even have 3/4 of the modes, especially team modes like CTF. Team Fortress, Planetside, Battlefield, ARMA, ffs evenDust have more team play than Destiny. You're just showing an embarrassing lack of experience in the genre.

And for their standard bullshit they all have matchmaking so scrublets can go in and play. Guess what, Destiny has that too. Destiny has matchmaking for everything but high end play. Last I checked, Quake, Unreal etc don't use matchmaking for their tournaments-style bullshit. Dust is the only game on that list that actually stands as a point of opposition. Personally, I don't know why it has it. EVE's built in group finder is great: know people. Works -blam!-ing wonderfully, never fails.

  • Nothing like finding a group in a lfg to be kicked for a friend to join halfway through....

  • But the LFG system is flawless it's how Bungie envisioned us playing their game!

  • I'd be ok with matchmaking but the current LFG system works just fine for me and most of my friends. If your LFG experience was like that, it might be part of your own incompetence.

  • Your lack of empathy speaks more to your incompetence than to my own. The times I do begrudgingly use LFG, it takes me about five minutes, and I always make sure that I'm the leader, so as to not get booted at the bed of the game. I think myself competent enough to use it, and 9 times out of 10, I'm successful. That doesn't mean that I enjoy using it. From my point of view, I really shouldn't have to.

  •
Your lack of empathy speaks more to your incompetence than to my own.
Empathy is an emotion that you feel that is somewhat close to feeling sorry for you. In which, I don't because as you said, the website works fine for you. Incompetence is a nice way of saying stupidity. There is no relation between the two. You may want to revise that sentence. And do you realize the problems that would come with matchmaking? Problems that would be much worse than waiting an extra three minutes for form a group on a third party website?

sorry but empathy isnt just feeling sorry, its actually the ability to to feel another persons emotion. of every emotion ,any emotion.

  • Even so, emotion doesn't equate to intelligence, nor do the two have a relation.

  • Speak for youself. LFG sites have not been positive experiences for everyone. You should be questioning Bungie's incompetence of designing and implementing an in-game LFG system to begin with given how this is a "social" game. It's quite pathetic that you have to leave the game to play the game. This, among other major design flaws, will bury this game to the ground in the long-term.

  • How many times do you need to be told that your LFG experience is not everyone's LFG experience? Congratulations on your stunning "competence"; now, would you kindly help the rest of us out because optional matchmaking IS NO SKIN OFF YOUR BACK. How 'bout this: maybe we can push for both optional matchmaking AND a special "competent player" emblem for anyone who doesn't use it for a year. Then, you can parade around and everyone can always see that LFG works just great for you! Would you like that?
