New found respect

I've always been a PVE player and with ToO coming out I thought I'd give it a try. I just get destroyed, my K/D is dreadful. I can't even get the armor. I know I'll get told to git gud, but anyone who's been to the Lighthouse, well done. I'm never going to see that place. Edit: I'm amazed and overwhelmed by the comments, never thought I'd get so many (even trended for a while!). Sorry i can't reply to everyone Found out a few things since I tried IB. 1. I'm a Mida man 2. It's actually quick to get Bad JuJu and Invective!!(had the crucible part of those bounties for months) 3. Don't run at someone if they have thorn 4. If you have a super, chances are someone else does 5. If a warlock is mid air, things usually turn purple 6. If you miss the heavy ammo drop, hide Edit 2 - More tips from the community 7. If a Titan is running at you, leg it, you're about to get pelvic thrusted off the map 8. Also leg it if your health is low 9. Got LMG ammo, camp it out till the rockets have finished flying 10. Practice, then practice more 11. If your losing, switch it up 12. When someone's level pulses yellow, their supers ready, so back up Edit 3 - I've had a few PMs from people offering to help which is amazing (didn't intend for this being a recruitment post). But anyway I'm on X1 and my GT is the same as my name here.

  • I'm not the best PvPer but I know if I play with similar levelled players that I'll get there, I may take two-three cards but I know it'll happen. IMO, Trials is great fun and I haven't had as much fun in Destiny since the early VoG days. If you want to get to the Lighthouse then you will and the best advice I can give is this: 1. Find two other players in the same boat as you who are willing to practice and improve on the same timezones. 2. When Trials is on just go in without any boons and slog it out until you have to stop. As they say, you only improve by playing against people better than you. 3. When Trials is off just go in to the Skirmish or Elimination modes and practice. It works better if you're with the same 2 so you can then work on communication & teamwork. 4. Find out what all 3s strengths and weaknesses are and the strategies which work best for you. 5. Make sure everyone learns how to give and take constructive criticism whilst focusing on the shared goal. IMO this is the biggest obstacle to overcome when playing with new players as it's only natural to get defensive and let egos outweigh rational thinking.
