I'm not the best PvPer but I know if I play with similar levelled players that I'll get there, I may take two-three cards but I know it'll happen. IMO, Trials is great fun and I haven't had as much fun in Destiny since the early VoG days. If you want to get to the Lighthouse then you will and the best advice I can give is this: 1. Find two other players in the same boat as you who are willing to practice and improve on the same timezones. 2. When Trials is on just go in without any boons and slog it out until you have to stop. As they say, you only improve by playing against people better than you. 3. When Trials is off just go in to the Skirmish or Elimination modes and practice. It works better if you're with the same 2 so you can then work on communication & teamwork. 4. Find out what all 3s strengths and weaknesses are and the strategies which work best for you. 5. Make sure everyone learns how to give and take constructive criticism whilst focusing on the shared goal. IMO this is the biggest obstacle to overcome when playing with new players as it's only natural to get defensive and let egos outweigh rational thinking.

  • something here to add, mics. Mics, coms (coms as in, talk when you are dead, ghost what you can, but dont mess up the guys that are alive) and having call outs, practice all of these things make your team of 3 better. I agree that knowing what class and subclass as well as guns and play styles fit each team member. Spend the week in elimination anytime its up, otherwise use control to learn flags and other callouts.

  • Number 5 is a big one for me. I can't play with people who rage over every little thing. I've had teammates yelling repeatedly "revive me" when it was obviously not possible. I had to tell them if I am heads up with someone, yelling in my ear is just going to make the other person more likely to win. Some people may be fine in that environment, but I think it causes most people to do worse.

  • Completely agree and it's something that gets overlooked all the time. One sentence to let them know where the enemies are is all you need, you already know where your teammates orbs are. For me, if I'm evidently getting out-sniped and putting the rounds at risk as a result, I don't take offence if a teammate says "Okay, he'll be expecting you again so don't engage him this round. Let's all go this side and stick together". It's all about working together and adapting. Next game I may be the one who's out-sniping and they'll say "okay, keep going there as you have the jump on him".

  • Yah, and how things are worded makes a big difference too. Some people are just plain rude, and will say stuff like "you suck at sniping" if you get out sniped once or twice. A lot of talented players, can be douches at times. I think sometimes they get away with it, because people tolerate them for their help. Personally I rather have a fun relaxed time, then get stressed out playing with uptight try hards.

  • No problem. I've just looked at your Crucible KDs and considering your limited playtime they're actually pretty good. For example: your highest is Control @ 0.92 after just 50 games. You'd be surprised how many people have that after over 500 games!
