More damage is always great, and not to be an asshole or sound like an idiot but I personally love using my Gjallahorn. If there's arc burn in PoE then I still keep the gally. If nightfall then yes I use Thunderlord or some other heavy I might have. So I don't know about other players but that's the way I use it.
