I have a really tough time figuring out the titan. Am I using the defender wrong (as of right now, I don't shoulder charge on striker) or am I just not suited for a titan? I love playing Titan, it's refreshing to be the tank for once. Let me know what you guys think I should try
Edit: I appreciate your tips. I'll keep these in mind when I play my titan next

Become very well acquainted with RB or the PlayStation equivalent. Proceed to punch and enjoy the titan fully.

don't play one lol

titans do not have to be used only like a tank if you can get be behind your enemy using your increased agility and shotguns can be your best friend if you use them right

It depends, what Exotics do you have for your Titan? Personally for Striker I have my Skill tree set up as such: Pulse Grenade, Aftermath, Discharge, Aftershocks, and Unstoppable. I use Codices 1 and 4. I'm still feeling out Defender because I don't use it very often, but I do know to set your bubble away form lane of fire, either behind your allies or off to the side, unless you absolutely need to drop it due to an incoming attack that will kill you. But the Suppressor Grenade will always be your friend. On to Exotics, the subclass neutral ones are great. They are: Ruin Wings, The Armamentarium, and Crest of Alpha Lupi. Ruin Wings just let you get more Heavy more often, Armamentarium gives you a second grenade, and Alpha Lupi lets you revive and get revived faster. Both Ruin Wings and Armamentarium are great for when ever, where as Alpha Lupi is more situational and couple well with Defender. The Striker Exotics are: Helm of Inmost Light, Insurmountable Skullfort, and MK 44 Stand Asides. Helm of Inmost Light grants you the skills Death From Above and Headstrong, giving you more flexibility in your build. Insurmountable Skullfort Gives you Health for Orbs you pick up as well as Transfusion with Storm Fist. Mk 44 Stand Asides, longer duration of Shoulder Charge. Again, two great ones and a situational one. For Defender you have: Helm of Saint-14, The Glasshouse, and No Back Up Plans. Helm of Saint-14 gives you more Super Energy from Non-Guardian kills as well as Blinds any and all enemies who enter your Ward of Dawn. Glasshouse allows the Weapons and Blessing of Light Buffs to last longer. No Back Up Plans allows your Force Barrier to last longer. SAint-14 is hands down the Best Defender Exotic, Glasshouse is okay, and No Back Up Plans are just meh. And as Kabr stated, Titans make GREAT snipers, especially when coupled with a sniper that has Unflinching, because they can pop up and get more shots off then either Hunters or Warlocks.

Listen, your a tank. Basically the front line. But this means you will feel especially clumsy. Just remember to be a tank, but don't expect to be real quick and agile. Some confrontations aren't smart to go directly into for this reason

Just one tip!

Our impervious visage belies our tactical prowess. Just because you look like a tank doesn't mean you have to think like one. Try the shoulder charge. It's a lot more versatile than some people realize. On top of being a powerful attack it is also great for traversal and evasion. It's gotten me out of quite a few near death experiences. As a defender I prefer to hang back and shepherd my teammates. Generate lots of orbs (gift of light), and make sure they can see AND reach it when I spawn my ward. I prefer blessing as I figure you don't need my help causing damage. Just my opinion but I find shielding my fellow Hunters and Warlocks to be more practical. I would say go out on patrol and experiment on the level 8 vandals that tell their kids horror stories about us. Figure out what works and what doesn't. All the super good advice in the world is moot if it simply doesn't suit you.

I love the Titan class, specifically the Striker class. The set up that I currently run is like so: Molniya Type 2 (Mentor gear) Willbreakers Fist The Armamentarium Molniya Type 0 Primary weapons: Badger CCL, Red Death, and Mida Multi Tool Secondary: Y-09 Longbow Synthesis, Ice Breaker, and Secret Handshake Heavy: Gjallarhorn, One Way Ticket With the Armamentarium allows me 7 rounds for the Ghorn and an extra grenade. The bonus grenade is like a get out jail free card. And the extra rounds for my Ghorn? Forget about it. I play the Defender subclass in situations where everyone knows what they're doing and can benefit (by benefit I mean I actually use) the bubble of goodness OR when I'm raiding and am the only Titan in the group. As the other two have stated, Titan's can take a few shots, so sit back and use your Sniper rifle. Don't confuse the idea of being a "Tank" with the need to rush through everything seeking only carnage. Take your time, make your shots count. Then when you need to clear things out, pop a grenade, slap the ground, and watch the death pile up.

Despite being a "tank" don't walk into huge groups of enemies. they are actually better snipers than hunters because they can get hit more times than the other two classes without having to fall back
