Stop calling them LMGs!

Edit: you guys are killing my battery! Stop replying! Just accept you're wrong and move on. No one is perfect, not even me(though I'm damn close if you ask my girl friend) it's okay!! And yes I'm aware this will get me even more responses. Prove me wrong and shush! Fiiiine! Be jerks. I've disabled notifications for now. Sorry for trying to help you people! They are heavy machine guns! This is how bungie even refers to them, not LMG! Edit: this has been very entertaining, thank you all for making this my most popular thread evar! Keep it coming! But okay, to address a few points that have been made: First "in the military a machine gun of this size is called a LMG blah blah blah." Well LA de dah! Good for the military! This is not the military, this is DESTINY, a video game, not real life. Second: "in real life an HMG is mounted on a vehicle or some other stable platform!" Again, this is not real life, this is a video game! Our HMGs are mounted! They are mounted on our big burly space magic wielding guardians. We are strong enough and magical enough we don't need them mounted! Also as a side note I'm curious what people think of the machine guns in Halo that were mounted. Did they go from HMGs when they were mounted but when master chief ripped one off did it become an LMG? Third, "what about just machine gun, as that's what they are called in destiny." While yes, they are just called machine guns and I applaud your willingness to compromise, they are indeed still HMGs. The heavy part is implied because they go into the heavy weapon slots. And finally, the quote from bungie, and they obviously know more about their own game than you folks: HMGs · Improved HMG projectile networking. https://www.bungie.net/7_Update-101---Patch-Notes/en/News/News?aid=12125 Keep it coming though, I appreciate all the responses even though the vast majority of you folks are wrong. :) Edit 2: also, yallerhorn, not gallerjorn! And "a lot" not "alot" while I'm educating you guys.

A heavy machine gun can be multiple things, however; without knowing the caliber of the round we use, we can only go by the developers use. A caliber less than .50 is typically categorized as a light machine gun (e.g. M249) while .50 up to about 12.7 mm is considered a heavy machine gun(e.g. M60). We could take it back to the WWI term of heavy which means that is a weapon that is capable of sustained heavy fire without the need of a reload(i.e. a rotating barrel/belt fed/cooling system). Either way you look at it, it is still what the debs say it is. but hey what do I know, I'm just some guy on the interwebs that wants to say in a rude ass way that everyone who has a different opinion than myself is wrong... Oh wait, that's not me! Enjoy you game guardians!
