Guys only play Destiny with girls, only because they're girls?
This is probably the first forum post I've ever made openly saying that I'm a girl (wow a girl no way what's that!) Anyways, normally I wouldn't really care, nor would I say anything if it was a one time thing, but on multiple occasions have I been told that the only reason I get into groups/my raid/PoE/anything group keeps me around, is not because I'm good/bad at the game, but for the fact that I'm a girl.
No matter what I do, things always seem to come down to the fact it's because I'm a girl. [b]Go flawless in Trials? It's because I got carried for being a female. Get accepted into a raid group? Run sword for someone, get thanked for it? Has to be because I'm female. Do anything? Better bet it's cause I'm a female.[/b]
Basically what I'm saying is, to any other females on destiny, has anyone ever said these things to you? Guys, what do you think about this?
[b]EDIT[/b] dang, it seems some of you have taken my post the wrong way. I'm not saying that I should be thanked for running raids with people, although a thank you is nice here and there, I posted this in curiosity of others opinions, I know that I'm [b]obviously[/b] not the only girl on Destiny. [b]EDIT 2 -[/b] I've noticed that some of you think I believe I should be noticed and thanked because I am a girl, that is in no way the case at all! Infact I hate getting treated differently. Many people are telling me to get new friends, my raid team is great, the people I was talking about, I either don't talk to anymore, and the other one isn't part of my raid group, he's just a friend.
I've also noticed that some of you are posting your gamertags/want us to run hard crota with you, sadly I am only on 360. My GT is Kat Sphinx.
I do have xbox one but I never play it, as I have barely any friends on there :)

2 RepliesI actually love to play with girls, but not for the reasons you'd expect- I find that in most online games, most of the guys are dickwads who have more talk than skill. The girls however, have all been very friendly, and are [i]actually good[/i] because they have someone to prove wrong. Just my two cents.

I thank my raid team anyway when we complete a raid and I play with anyone regardless of gender. If you are a nice person and don't stay silent in the party like an awkward fart. I will play this game with you.

I have a girl in my clan that I would pick to raid with over some of our other clan members b/c she's good and plays smart, not just b/c she's a girl

I play with anyone that knows what they're doing. I have girl that I play with quite a bit but it's not because she's a girl, it's because she knows what she's doing. She knows how to run sword in CE hard, she has no problem picking up the relic in VoG and can more than hold her own in crucible. More importantly she communicates what's going on like if they are short on firepower in the portal in VoG and someone needs to come in and help kill oracles or she calls out enemy positions on the map in PvP.

Besides a friend of mine on ps4, I've only met and grouped with one female player. And she is one of the best players I've ever seen. As far as I'm concerned, if you are playing the game it doesn't matter what gender you are because we are all gamers after all.

If I ran a group of randoms through a raid and they didn't thank me I'd be mad. Back when there was only VoG I'd go into patrol and help out randoms at the sync plates. They would always wave or dance when the door opened and I'd wave and leave. It's common courtesy, male or female. As long as you don't suck and make the raid take way longer, I'd thank you.

Anyone that is willing to assist on missions nightfalls raids etc and isn't a turd and determined is my kind of player regardless of gender. That being said anyone need help or plays around the evening weekdays add me. Like helping out GT: Drasticlattice7. Play on: Xbox 360 and Xbox one.

If I ever met a girl on destiny, I would treat her and play with her like I do with other guys. I believe in gender equality.

If you are having fun and completing what you want I say keep it going. It may or may not be true that they thank you because of your gender. Don't let it ruin your experience.

Oh man, posting anything regarding gender on these forums will just bring a bunch of hate. I'm sorry. At any rate, I would guess they thank you because you are running the sword. I don't ever feel like I get extra attention just because I'm a girl. I mostly game with guys and I have not run into this. Thankfully.

I don't really have much of any issue with it because I'm almost always playing with my girlfriend and our usual raid team (one of them is also another girl). I have had a few times though where guys are just constantly joining our chat or trying to play with us because someone already playing with us told them that they were playing with lesbians. It really doesn't happen that often though. You just have to play with more mature players and if people are being disrespectful because of your gender then just stop playing with them.

First thing I do is act male. Ya know run the raid gain trust what ever. then boom tell em. If they flip out I'm gone if they are cool with it I just made a new raid team

1 ReplyI'm a female gamer, in regards to gender specific preferences from other male players I would say it doesn't happen that much but it has happened before. Instead of believing the only reason why these guys play with me because I'm a girl I decided to get as good at the game as possible therefore they would play with me because I'm good. Having said that, I have a clan now, all my members are men, I have 2 level 32s and one more on the way. I don't think o get picked that much for being female, but because I am good at the game... But then again I could be wrong, I have had a situation when I joined a random raid and as soon as everyone heard my voice I got 5 friend requests from all of them before they could experience my skill. But I just don't care anymore, I just want to play and have a good time.

To me, I wouldn't care if you were a guy or girl. As long as we have fun playing what we play then gender wouldn't matter. Too bad there's some thirsty people out there, both men and women alike.

It's not the only reason, I'm sure a lot of guys only play with you because you're a girl though, or are extra nice etc. To them it's like omg a female voice im this much closer to w vagina!

Just a guess based on your story but they probably thank you because you ran sword or were the point of contact. Not everyone who plays was raised by Emily Post or writes a lot of thank you notes so they probably aren't going to thank each and every person in the raid group.

But what can you really expect out of randoms playing video games? Chances are they a boys and will take any chance they can to hang out with a girl. Btw I am a 24 year old guy and happily married so you know where I'm coming from.
