When The Dark Below was released, lots of people were very upset about how levels were handled. Specifically, the fact that vendor gear was higher level than Vault of Glass gear made the VoG somewhat obsolete. What I wonder, though, is just how people think the levels should be handled when House of Wolves is released. Pretty much every way of doing it that I've thought of has some reason why it's not a good way to do it. Explanations of the options in the poll are as follows:
Status Quo:
VoG 30, CE 32, Vend 33, HoW 34, NF 32. Weekly 32, Daily 32
This is essentially how things were done with TDB. Existing raids are locked in time, and everything else gets bumped up by 2 levels. Problem is that this makes the old raids obsolete pretty quickly, and the VoG will be very behind the times.
Raid Progression:
VoG 30, Vend 31, CE 32, HoW 34, NF 32, Weekly 32, Daily 32
This makes a progression of raids. You need to do CE to get to level 32 before you can do HoW to get to higher levels. Problem is that it makes raiding (the most difficult and time-consuming end-game activity) a prerequisite to doing any other end-game activity.
Tiered Raids:
Vend 31. VoG 32, CE 32, HoW 34, NF 32, Weekly 32, Daily 30
This makes two tiers of raids: new raid vs old raids. VoG is brought up to be equal with CE, while the HoW is still the only way to reach highest level. Daily is kept at a level able to be handled with vendor gear, so that people who don't raid can still at least get ascendant materials to upgrade their vendor gear with. Raiding is still a prerequisite to do the nightfall or the highest level weekly.
Tiered Raids Low:
Vend 31. VoG 32, CE 32, HoW 34, NF 30, Weekly 30, Daily 30
Similar to the Tiered Raids option, but keeping the nightfall and weekly at a level where they can be handled with vendor gear, not requiring raiding. Problem is that the nightfall becomes way too easy for a level 34 guardian.
Tiered Status Quo:
VoG 32, CE 32, Vend 33, HoW 34, NF 32, Weekly 32, Daily 32
A cross between the Status Quo and Tiered Raids options. This still makes the old raids obsolete, but at least the VoG doesn't become even more obsolete than it already is.

Btw, i do kina hope the levels will go higher than 34 for guardians, so i Expect the new raid to be of a higher level classification as well. Especially hard mode HoW Raid. Next to that; Tiered Raids!

Edited by MakkinjeM: 2/25/2015 10:17:29 AMTiered Raids: Vend 31. VoG 32, CE 32, HoW 34, NF 32, Weekly 32, Daily 30 Definitely! This fits exactly the sollution, for what went wrong with TDB, concerning the Gear system.

4 RepliesIts probably going to be Status Quo or none of the above. There needs to be a way to get 33 without HoW, but CE raid gear also shouldn't become instantly obsolete.

Most major games do the exact same thing bungie did. No one is stopping people from doing the old raids. By doing it the way they did, it allows people who are brand new to the game a chance to play with the majority of the player base. This is a completely fair and balanced system.

I've said it once and ill say it again. I know this a poll but I am speaking generally. All you crybabies like oooohh noooooo I grinded all the raids for what? It was useless! vendor gear gets people to greater than my raid gear! My response is no crap idiot, your benefit is having elemental primarys which vendors don't sell and being able to be a level above the rest making things easier for you. Now in regard to the request about raid requirements for leveling. That will never happen so drop the idea. Raids require you to use friends or use an outside outlet to complete them. There is no in-game way to complete a raid so there will never be a requirement for it. I have played since day one. Never completed a raid because I work several hours and its hard to get 6 people together to raid. It is near imposisble for me to do without some sort of way to form a team. This means I miss out on the cool weapons and armor and ships and sparrows from the raid. That is the reward for thw raids and I should not be able to no longer play the game because the game lacks a means to progress. That is why it will never be a requirement. Also as someone else already said you would be forced tobuy DLC which is no way to keep players playing.

That would be really suck if they did status quo. I voted for tiered raids

2 RepliesThe raid progression can't work as it requires purchase of both DLC's .

1 ReplyI will absolutely -blam!-ing quit if I have to do raid content just to geared to do the Nightfall/Weekly. That will be just one too many kicks to the nutsack. I'll be annoyed if vendor gear only goes up to 32 and it takes me weeks to get ready for Nightfall/Weeklies, but it would be tolerable at least.
