Its probably going to be Status Quo or none of the above. There needs to be a way to get 33 without HoW, but CE raid gear also shouldn't become instantly obsolete.

Almost every mmo game leaves all previous raid gear behind. And for your argument this isn't an mmo well then I'm sorry to tell you that with this loot system, core mechanics, and a 10 year plan for life span this game is an mmo just without the name. So get used to seeing old gear going useless. They have to make the game fair and balanced for all new players so that they can enjoy the content with us.

I understand the game is an MMO and that they don't want to alienate new players (as I said in my previous comment) but most players playing Destiny aren't MMO players, they're console players not used to an MMO type game and most MMOs gear doesn't become immediately irrelevant. As soon as the new DLC drops old raid gear is instantly worse, instead of gradually becoming irrelevant. Vendor gear shouldn't immediately outrank the highest gear from before the DLC.

Agreed, it's a difficult problem, far trickier than it seems at first glance. No matter what they end up doing, someone is going to have a legitimate complaint about it.

True. I just hope that they rethink it and try to make a system that won't alienate new players and won't make veterans feel like all their work was useless.
