I will preface this by saying I'm not a fanboy for either console, and this is simply my opinion. I have had both PS4 and XB1 since their respective launches, and for me the function of both systems is almost exclusively gaming. I was a 360 guy so I figured the XB1 would be my favorite of the two, but Microsoft made some absolutely horrible choices that royally screwed the social experience for the first several months (like having to manually turn chat on even if you initiated the party, many games had no in game chat option, and sometimes having to leave the snap window open because unsnapping party muted the whole party). DR3 was a crap ton of fun, but the social fubar pushed me toward the PS4 for multi platform games. The social options are not as extensive but they are pretty rock solid and very easy to use, plus some of the games just plain looked better because they were rendered at a higher native resolution due to the better hardware. XB1 software has improved a lot since then, but there is no spectacular feature that makes me want to switch back. Plus I have made a whole new group of friends on PS4, most of which don't own multiple consoles. I'll be happy to have the XB1 for access to Microsoft exclusive titles like Halo 5, but until then I will likely rarely turn it on.
