If you take the time and look at more resent comparisons, both consoles perform the same as far as hardware. You will get the argumant that PS is a more powerful machine, better ram ECT...that hasn't held up since the release and there are a lot of non-bias articles out there to back it up.
So now that's out of the way, it really boils down to what you want. Xbox one Currently has more exclusives than PS. That may change, but they hold the edge currently. Live is more stable then PSN. While both have had recent issues with Denial of service "Hacks", live is still more stable than PSN is. Yes, PSN has made strides to close the gap...MS hasn't just been sitting by either(Windows 10 compatible). If you have a PC you will find the interface familiar and easy to use. Messages are fast and instant, friend list is highly organized, you can even search friends by game if you like. I'm unsure that PS offers, but there are a lot of useful apps for the XBox one. From movies to NFL to Youtube. All seem to work well. The most important thing is if you will have people to play with. After all, you can own the either console...but it's useless unless you can have fun with friends...
