My Friend With A Disability Was Already Thinking of Quitting...

...and now we find out that the random teleport change at Atheon is actually going in. He has Cerebral Palsy. Basically my friend has limited mobility on one side, plus his hand doesn't work very well. He's been a real trooper since day one since we only really had three of us from the beginning and he enjoys playing Destiny. The only time I've seen him really struggle is with the 3 times we've done VoG together. He has the beginning (opening the door) through the Templar fight down, but he doesn't have enough experience with the rest of it to consider himself an asset rather than a liability. For Atheon we paired him up with someone outside to kill Supplicants and keep the portal up since it's easier for him to do that than to kill the Oracles in time to avoid a wipe (because he has slower reaction time). We never expected him to be able to do Hard mode VoG, but Normal was definitely (at least in my opinion) within his skill level. Now with the random teleport change, there's basically no reason for him to ever do VoG again since he'll feel responsible if the party wipes if he's teleported in. His self-confidence in the harder areas of Destiny was already low, and this is the final straw to break the camel's back... Edit: because there are apparently a few people out there who aren't taking disabled gamers seriously.

As some who suffers from reaction delays and depth perception issues due to being half blind in one eye I agree the randomized teleporting is going to cut me from doing the raids. I am just glad that I got my Vex Mythoclast on my one and only hard mode run. So I won't be missing out on getting it due to Bungie's bad fix choices. I'm all for fixing the push glitch but the teleporting is to much, it takes away any strategy and makes it impossible for the average gamer to even attempt.

Bump, I'm not sure what to say other than just to bump this thread because it's already a community disliked change and Bungie does not care enough to take into account handicapped people who possibly there only way to really reach out to the world is through games. I used to play with a 70 year old Vietnam vet who had a voicebox (not sure what they are called). He was a classic story of someone who lived on practically nothing and was wheel chair bound along with his vocal chords simply not being there. If he was having a particularly rough night with his medical conditions then we would always give him an easy job in a raid. The important thing to note is that his way of reaching out to people and having human interaction was through online video games. At that age I'm not sure how he ever learned how to play them lol. Anyway, it was the bright spot in his day to be able to hop on a play with all of us. He was ornery and stubborn, but we always brushed it off in laughter. Here's the thing in all the raids in DDO you could give someone an easy job during every part. There was no part that there wasn't at least 1 somewhat easy task. With this raid change in Destiny its literally something I've never seen done. You are taking strategy and throwing it out the window. Would you please consider the fact that the community is vehemently opposed to this change, and that handicap people DO play video games. I guess I did have something to say after all.

    • You know what, that's what I call a good friend. Regardless of his abilities, you still take him out on raids & what not, even if the difficulty is high. Too many people flip a switch when one person messes it up for everybody. What happened to patience?

    • Not expecting this to trend, but just wanted to bring this up on the off chance that someone might see it.

      • Practice makes perfect, for normal mode it is possible for one person to do the oracles. Find someone decent willing to pull some extra weight. Hell I run with randoms all the time and I pull their weight. If you are on ps4 add me and we can't come up with a solution.

      • Yo mate i feel for him but let me explain one thing... If you play with 6 people and are at the atheon checkpoint u want to do this. You need to point out two people ( one is Always your Friend ) who never get the shield. So if both of them get teleported then the other gets the shield. Your mate blow up the enemies down the stairs with a heavy weapon ( launcher ) while the other who hasnt got the shield begin to kill the Oracles... When your fried is done ( pretty quick cause the one with the shield is also killing the enemies ) he can help the other one killing the Oracles. Let him try it, eventually he will succeed in get it and it feels Like a big win :) Ps: you cannot talk for him man about what he can or cannot... It sounds not Nice but anyway good luck with trying ....

      • Bump. All to often people with disabilities are not taken into consideration when games are designed or design changes like this are made.

        • I understand the whole feeling responsible thing, I feel terrible when I cause a wipe or feel like I'm not doing my best to help my team. They should add the random porting to the hard mode difficulty, it would make more sense that way.

You shouldn't just assume he cannot do things. Your friend can speak for himself I'm sure.

              • It's gonna suck, iv'e always hating having the feeling of ruining it for my team in the VoG if i happened to miss a oracle i would always blame myself for wasting everyones time and that iv'e should have made sure the oracle was destroyed. now everyone is gonna have to learn the roles of raids due to the more random difficulty that is gonna come along, some people choose to stay outside of the portals because that's what their most comfortable with, others are better inside.
