PSA: We are currently working on a fix for the Centipede issue

A number of users have been experiencing repeated 'Centipede' errors and are unable to log in. We are working hard on a resolution to this issue, and hope to get it fixed soon. Thank you for all our patience, and [i]All Hail the Sacred Centipede[/i], he requires many sacrifices upon the alter of networking to sate his hunger.

  • I have an error (almost) everytime I'm in a map or the tower for like a minute and it's the same errorcode on the same map (tower is beaver) it isn't my connection, this morning I had 90%!

  • Good! I played for 6 hours the first day and i havent been able to even get on since then! All my friends are playing but i just keep getting the centipede error when i know my network connection is fine!

    Every time i set a destination, one minut or so i lose thAe connection, code leopard or beaver depending on location. Is this a problem with this beta. At the moment im stil using my ps3, waiting until sept until my xboxone is in stores. It is on that console il would be playing. Im hoping this problem get fixed.

  • I just want to know how you let something like this slip... I mean do companies not test their own games anymore? This seems like it would be a pretty common occurrence if you had actually tested it yourselves. The two prominent things we've seen that trigger it are vault use, and dormitory connections (which I would assume is simply due to heavy traffic on a single large network). How are you just now finding these things out? Are we your only guinea pigs? If beta data transfers into retail will those of us who lost all data and missed events be compensated?

    • "Deathvraal 7/18/2014 12:31:09 AM This is not the first time I have run into this error. It happened back when they let us play the alpha for a weekend. This error never got fixed and I never heard back from Bungie about the problem. The description they list for the problem on the main help page makes it sound like a quickly dismissed error that should not show up very often. Please can someone help me figure out what I need to do to get rid of this error so I can finally play the game." And here you have it, proof this was discovered in alpha and never fixed. Bungie, you suck!

      • Come on! I barely get that error! I constantly getting bee, fly, hedron, and lion! And bee is constantly annoying me with the message remove from the word! Please check this errors! Beta is being a pain a lot more than alpha! That's impossible! I actually enjoy alpha but beta? I can even play! So I don't know how beta is!

          Centipede only corrupts a single account. Make a dummy profile and play that for now. Sucks but it's a work around.

        • Hey Bungie.. If this is indeed caused by a corrupted save, I would gladly start from scratch rather than wait longer. If possible, can you clear all the guardians from my account and delete any save data you have? Not sure if that'll get me back in, but I'm willing to try. Also, like many others, I used the vault yesterday to transfer some items right before I started getting the centipede error. Good luck sorting it out, love the game so far!

          • At 7/20/14 @ 10:30am eastern time I found myself not being able to log in due to a network error being called centipede. The catch is that my wife who plays with me with her own ps4 can still log in with no problems (lol the irony). Is it just affecting certain psn's regardless of there network connections?

            • Yup. I switched to another PSN id and can play now. I don't think I'll have time to get my guy up to lvl 8 by iron banner time though

              • This is great. All I wanted to hear is that it's at least being worked on. I still haven't been able to play; hopefully its fixed by the end of the two day shut down period. I'm sure there's a lot that goes into resolving this issue that most of us don't know about, so even if it doesn't get patched in time, thank you for at least taking time to read our complaints and take a deeper look into it.

              • 0 changes to my network settings and I've put a good 15-20 hours in and now I can't even log in. Playin on ps4.

              • Any update as to how things are progressing with the fix? Nearly a day since we last heard word. I'm guessing it will be sorted during the 2 day maintenance, at least I hope so. I want that beta emblem and to get to play again, as I've only had a days worth before the centipede got me. Seems pointless to gain access to a beta which can't be played, how's that help things?
