I wouldn't think so considering none of their past consoles had one but maybe its better to have a power brick so you have more room in the console for more important things like ram and a bigger GPU.

  • It doesn't work that way. It's all good though, because hardware wise, they already have the upper hand on Microsoft.

  • "Upper hand" yes, because it is so much better from a hardware standpoint

  • Well technically it is.

  • "Technically" yes, but it won't make a difference. The only difference is the GPU, and it will be completely unnoticeable. So it shouldn't even be a argument.

Right now it won't be noticeable, but down the line when developers can make even better looking games, it will matter, and then that's when the PS4's extra 0.5 teraflops will come in handy. Oh also, the PS4 has much faster RAM (it's above 5000MHz whereas the Xbox One's is at 2133). The faster RAM is really good for streaming videos. It helps load them a bit faster, same with live TV.

  • The RAM is the same, you obviously haven't researched. The X1's RAM has a slower bandwidth, while the PS4's RAM has a higher bandwidth. But the X1 also has SRAM that will close the bandwidth gap between the RAM. So like I said, RAM is the same. And no, that .5 teraflops won't make a difference. The only difference it will make is the exclusives, and obviously the X1 people won't care about that. But saying that, raw numbers mean nothing. Look at the PS3 and 360, just because one has higher numbers means nothing.

  • I have done my research, and the PS4 has faster RAM and over a period of time, the extra 0.5 teraflops will make a difference.

  • It has faster bandwidth, but with the X1's SRAM the bandwidth will be the same. The RAM will be the same. Also though, the PS4's RAM will have a higher latency. Thus not being as good as the X1's RAM at times. You obviously haven't researched or you would know this. And the teraflops won't matter. Like I said, just look at the PS3 and 360, higher numbers doesn't mean It will be better.
It has faster bandwidth, but with the X1's SRAM the bandwidth will be the same.
Xbox One bandwidth - 102 GB/s PS4 bandwidth - 176 GB/s Source (Extreme Tech) The faster the RAM, the more bandwidth you get.
The RAM will be the same.
Xbox One RAM - 8GB of DDR3 PS4 RAM - 8GB of GDDR5 Same source as above.
Also though, the PS4's RAM will have a higher latency.
Won't affect performance, not even during gaming.
And the teraflops won't matter. Like I said, just look at the PS3 and 360, higher numbers doesn't mean It will be better.
The numbers do matter to some extent. The PS3 has more graphical horse power than the Xbox 360, and you can see the difference, at least I can. The PS3 does have less RAM than the Xbox 360 (PS3 has 256 megs, Xbox 360 has 512 megs), so the Xbox 360 can multitask better.

  • That 102 gb bandwidth is ONLY the SRAM, that doesn't include the power from the DDR3 RAM. Yes they have different RAMs we know this, but because of the SRAM that the X1 has the bandwidths will be the same. And yes that high latency will affect it at times. If the PS4 is having do do alot of work with it's RAM then that latency will affect it in a negative way. That's what high latency does, if being used heavily the bandwidth will drop. The X1's RAM has a lower latency. You are arguing something that your completely wrong in. It's a fact that the RAMs will be unnoticeable different, if you know about the systems like you say you do, you would know this.

  • You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. I surmise that you've read a couple of posts online before and figured because of that you understand what you're talking about. You do not. First of all, the Xbox One is crippled by its OS. The OS sucks up 3GB of the total RAM in the system, leaving only 5GB available to games. DDR3 memory is slower than GDDR5 memory - the addition of SRAM will alleviate that difference a little, but nowhere near enough to make the consoles equal. There are also a lot of rumours going around lately that the GPU on the Xbox One needs to be underclocked slightly owing to performance and heat issues. Considering the GPU is considerably less powerful than the one in the PS4 (0.5 teraflops is a huge difference - almost two current gen consoles together) already that makes things... interesting. The currently available specifications for the console also suggest a bit of a difference between their CPUs - the Xbox One's CPU is a 1.6GHz 8-core Jaguar chip whilst the PS4's CPU is a 2.0GHz 8-core Jaguar chip. Do your own research before telling others to.

  • I already said that the GPU is better, don't know why your saying this. And rumors are rumors, they mean nothing. And yes that SRAM will alleviate almost all if not all of that bandwidth difference between the two RAMs. It's clocked at 102Gb/s, when used together with the DDR3 their will be almost no difference in RAM speeds. But also like I said, the GDDR5, has a higher latency, which can decrease your bandwidth. Now show me where I am wrong now?

  • Well, it does give more room for cooling or, alternatively, a smaller form factor. But considering the power envelope of ~200W for the console, the power supply is probably so small that it doesn't add too much to the size of the console. I'm not really sure do I even care if the power supply is inside or outside. On one hand, an internal PSU allows better cable management, but on the other hand, it's one less part you can replace if it fails (like the PSU of my 360 did). Although, there should be no problems with that as long as it's given adequate cooling (again, looking at the original 360).

  •
the power supply is probably so small that it doesn't add too much to the size of the console.
True...I completely forgot to even think about the size when compared to the wattage.
