Confused PC Destiny 2 player wanting to play D1

I've had Destiny 2 on PC since launch. My friend recently gave me his old PS4 since he's upgraded to a PS5 and bought me D1 for my PSN after I set one up so I could see where the story started. I've never got round to installing it, do I need to link my PSN with my Bungie account to play it since it's currently accessed via my Steam credentials. I know cross save isn't a thing since I won't have D2 on it so have never enabled it being a PC player for that with no desire to have D2 on console, and D1 isn't on PC. They weren't really sure since they veteraned their account back in 2017 and stopped playing D2 on Playstation when cross save came out and he didn't need to run two sets of characters any more. So I suppose the question is what do I need to do to play D1?

 • Hello there, You just need to login to the PlayStation and play. Bungie.net features are not really needed to play the game. You may want to link your PSN to your current profile or create one of its own if you wish to use apps like DIM for the account, but it is not required for game play.
