So we have some subclasses that have awesome neutral game synergy.
Bottom tree striker has this awesome cadence of melee kill, gun kill, repeat that heals you, reloads your weapon, and increases your damage. That's awesome and sees a lot of benefit from a lot of exotics.
Top tree arcstrider has awesome damage potential with it's melee and dodge rotation, allowing for some awesome one-two-punch shenanigans.
Devour Warlock is actually really fun to play as well. Constant health regen and activation of Devour. Super is underwhelming, but that's a different discussion.
Then we see classes like top tree tether, bottom tree gunslinger, attunement of flame, and many more subclasses that just don't do that.
Take top tree tether as an example. The abilities have zero synergy with one another. What if everything about top tree Tether stayed the same, but with these additions:
Vanishing step now charges your grenade when you dodge while surrounded (3 or more enemies). Keeps its invisibility function.
Snare bomb keeps it's current function, but it also makes your grenades weaken and disorient enemies as well. Killing enemies damaged by your grenade charges your super.
Keen scout keeps its current function, but it also allows for significantly faster reloads while invisible. Sprinting while invisible charges your dodge ability.
Like, think about that. That combination would make such a fun cadence of trap with grenade/smoke, debuff, kill, repeat and would 100% not be OP in PvP as long as a player couldn't be invisible all the time. That would be absolutely awesome and would really fit the Trapper fantasy, as Bungie likes to say. I'd like see ALL subclasses have great synergy. That goes for Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks.
Thanks for reading and upvote if you agree.

Or just let us make our own custom builds like in D1. This streamlined BS where you select one set of little boxes or another is stupid.

You can't have a "different discussion" without talking about supers. Its how Bungie balances. Bungie balances neutral game to supers. Warlocks are the poster child of this. Nova warp sucks bad but it has a very good nade. Bottom Tree Nova Bomb suck hard but it has devour Top Tree Dawnblade has a good super but the neutral game sucks (its getting a buff and a nerf but some how using Bungie math that makes it a buff) Top Tree Stromcaller good nade, crappy super ect, ect, ect Hunters and Titans have some of these issues too but to a lesser extent. They are not as bipolor as Warlock. For the most part Hunter and Titan neutral game kind of suck (except for shoulder charge) but their supers are really good (except thunder crash). For what ever reason Bungie has decided to balance across classes super vs neutral game making one of the two crappy because the other one is good.

I thought you were gonna elaborate more about changes to each class's neutral game but instead it was only about Hunter. Thanks for the bait

This is just a buff Hunter thread in disguise as a balance thread. Just cuz u a Hunter main don’t mean ur sneaky.
-
Top tree nightstalker doesnt need all that. Coming from a nightstalker main.

*looks at bottom Dawnblade complaints about Super being too strong* *looks at subclass node* *sees three-fourths of the subclass are geared towards the Super and an extremely negligible passive ability most players probably forget exists* I think I see the problem here...

Edited by C1B3D: 12/3/2019 9:30:11 PMTop tree tether is great, especially in PvP, better enemy detection, dodge (dodge invis is by far the best tool for PvE as well in dangerous situations) and get invis and 2nd smoke, smoke for area control and Super as a trap, plus enemy Super deactivation tool with good range. Not everything should be about damage, damage and more damage. But i still would love buffs to neutral game on weaker Subclasses.

Because attunement of flame as one of the strongest supers in the entire game. Top tree Nightstalker arguably has one of the best neutral games in the game. Cloak, enhanced sprint speed, better radar, and playing around with the enemy’s radar. Bottom tree gunslinger also has a great neutral game. They are buffing it’s as well so . . .

This!! With the changes to top dawnblade... basically that. Can we get more synergy to underperforming subclasses??
-
I feel like when it comes to neutral game synergy, Hunters are usually the ones that benefit the most. The example being middle and soon Bottom tree gunslinger, all of the arcstrider trees, then middle and bottom tree nightstalker. And unlike Titans, they don’t rely on abilities. Your guns get buffed with gunslinger, you get a sprint speed increase with arcstrider, and nightstalker buffs your radar and helps invisibility. Titans? Punch. Punch to punch better. Abilities heal you and recharge faster. Which might’ve been fine, except Arcstrikers got the best melee which combined with Liar’s handshake heals on HIT, not kill. Why can’t we get some perks that actually benefit gameplay outside of abilities?

sorry disagree. There's already cadence and synergy to these subclasses but it comes from weapons/perks instead. Not every subclass needs crazy synergy to be fun or effective.

Haha yes make Attunement of Control heal you and give buffed devour
