Edited by TheShadow-cali: 2/13/2018 2:53:19 PM
While Smith argued that the static rolls would make it easier for the sandbox team to adjust the weapon system, Destiny 2 has had almost no significant sandbox updates in the past few months.
Yeah, it takes 7 months to get an actual update with this new easy system they came up with that well allow them to have more updates on a regular bases right? Now why don't we tell the truth. D1 system was too hard for them to work with when it came to the sand box. So their way of dealing with it was nerf the most popular and called that "balance" Not just with the weapons either, but everything in D1 from weapons to sub class. What makes it worse is knowing Bungie now's the PvE aspect of this game has always been more popular and they apply that flawed logic to PvE as well. So, Bungie nerfs the entire game so it would make things easier for the poor little sand box? How about use your brain and find a lead that can handle this game instead of some baby that thinks things are too hard for him so lets nerf it because that solves everything. In all, Luke needs to be put back to working on raids and the sand box lead needs to step down.

Edited by SeaWolv: 2/14/2018 3:10:08 PMBungie did the nerfing strategy because the buffing strategy takes more work but is far more rewarding.

I particularly like how the author ended the piece:
If Bungie wants me back, it’s going to take more than saying that we’ll see “weapon slot and archetype improvements” in Fall 2018. I need to hear that shotguns, snipers, and fusion rifles are returning to the secondary slot before anything else. I need to know that random rolls are coming back in a month or two, not this fall. I need to see tripmines regain their former unicorn-granting sticky glory, while the old exotics get returned to their previous power levels. I need Bungie to excite me again.
I hear so much about small steps in the right direction. This game does not need small steps, it needs a giant leap. This game does not need balance, it has plenty of that already, and it’s not good. Sandbox needs to be more transparent about its plans. We have to wait 6 more weeks for our first real update, to what...walk faster?! Sorry, this just isn’t good enough. This is not the time for measured, incremental improvements. We need Guardian power returned, everything un-neutered, and the loot more interesting. If you’re so fixated on static rolls, fine, but there needs to be many more variations so that the loot doesn’t feel so...blah. I know it’s hard. Sorry, don’t care. You shouldn’t have fixed so many things that weren’t broken. September is not soon enough for this mess to be cleaned up.

Edited by Mickey Padge: 2/15/2018 7:58:51 PMFor the idiots saying D2 has plenty of variety and weapons, just take a look at just a selection of primary weapons from D1 that were all perfectly capable of destroying in pvp and in pve... Deep breath! eyasluna, imago loop, palindrome, fever and remedy, ace of spades, hawkmoon, thorn, the last word, finnalas peril, the devil you know, the fulcrum, lingering song, the wail, high lord fixer, oversoul edict, praedyths timepiece, steel medulla, outbreak prime, blind perdition, clever dragon, grasp of malok, pdx-45, parthian shot, b-29 party favor, the waltz, hawksaw, chaos dogma, mida, jade rabbit, tlaloc, colovances duty, hand of judgement, hung jury, nl shadow 701x, genesis chain, necrochasm, hard light, zhalo Supercell, monte carlo, suros regime, vision stone, unbent tree, soulstealers claw, doctrine of passing.... There are loads more, these are just a taste of the top tier pvp weapons that compete, not to mention any of the special or heavy weapons.... And D2? Hmmm.... Uriels gift, positive outlook, prosecutor, darkest before, better devils, antiope d, mida, last hope.... All fixed rolls too, only one exotic... Quick edit! How could I forget parthian shot and/or spare change plus rifles! Fastest possible (non perked) kill, at around 0.73 I believe, a two burst kill with all crits, not easy, but satisfying!

i agree with what was said in the post lets start with that but random rolls will only be a temporary fix they need a stronger system, its gonna take time though

Bummmmmmmmmmp. This. Times a thousand. Stupid effs that ruined this franchise better take heed of everything this article says. Unbelievable they trashed this franchise so badly. Sickening.

As much as it pains me to say it: there is nothing in this article that can be disputed. It is 100% accurate. Really the only thing that was missing was the pointless nature of the scannable objects in the wild. In D1, they pretty much always gave you some very interesting backstory. For instance I remember scanning a terminal in the first Taken King mission and listened to my Ghost reading out the huge percentage losses the Cabal had suffered against the Taken and thinking "Jeez, these shadows are freakin powerful as hell!" In Destiny 2, most of them are pointless. For example on Io there is a Vex portal (not in Rupture or Giant's Scar, the other one, can't remember its name) and when you scan it your ghost says something like "Remmber that female exo that warned us about the Black Garden? I hope she's ok." ... good for you Ghost, I for one would be asking who the hell she is, where is she, what was her goal and relationship with the Vex. This is what I mean. Most of the scannables have your Ghost rambling on about the number of Cryptarchs in the Cryptarchy which has nothing to do with the Vex device I scanned to initiate that dialogue.

I’d like to hear a direct response from bungie on the issues raised in this article. Dmg, cozmo.....anyone?
-
-
I wish Bungie would just do a simple experiment and reinsert the live events back into Destiny and see which version people flock to.

Good article. It basically sums up what I've been saying since the announcement of the new weapon system, static rolls, and confirmed by playing the Beta. This game is not going to have the longevity of D1 because they're removing the reasons to keep playing. Hardcore Fans will collect all the loot in a few weeks, and have nothing left to do, and to make things worse anything new they add with updates and expansions will be worthless because they're focusing solely on balance at the expense of variety. Most of my friends said I was overreactin when I almost canceled my preorder after the Beta (still wish I had), but here we are with only 1 or 2 of my 50+ player clan still playing the game after 5 months. The closing paragraph expresses my thoughts exactly. To get me back they need to revert to the D1 weapon system (primary, special, heavy), bring back RNG rolls, bring back armor stats/perks, expand the power of weapon perks and stat nodes across the board to widen the range between best and worst weapons, buff exotics, and reduce crucible TTK back to D1 levels. Basically revert most of what they've done to the core game back to D1 systems, and maybe then I'll come back. Anything short of that isn't going to be enough to keep me interested.

Hope to see a "Bungie replied" soon.... yeah right....
-
i doubt it illustrates perfectly what everyone is saying tbh.
-
Great article Guardian. Agree with the writer 100% and thanks for posting it. Hopefully team Bungie will take it to heart.
-
agreeable nodding whilst yelling "rabble rabble rabble"
-
Everything in this is spot on. It's so frustrating what a joke this game is.
-
Good read and very accurate.
-
Brilliant article. Pretty much bulls-eyed every fallen point of the game. I still hope, I still play. Trolls - this is how you get the message across.
