UK BT connectivity problem - A quick fix
Hey, noticed a lot of people were having issues keeping a stable connection on BT (like me) with errors such as cabbage, centipede, etc.
I've switched over to a non-UK VPN connection and everything has been rock solid ever since. No more 'Loading' delays when switching zones, and every planet loads without dumping me back to Orbit. Hints to me that BT might be profiling/throttling certain traffic at the minute due to numerous outages around the country.
For those interested, I'm using VyprVpn, connected to the German servers.
EDIT: I’m playing the PC version, and using a VPN client on my PC. Unless you are able to set up a VPN on your router, [i]this won’t help the Console issues[/i].

After looking around and coming across this thread I thought I would try running my xbox one through my PC (Win10) using VPN (I use IPVanish) and it totally works (I connected to a German server). You need to be connecting to your router using wireless from your PC. I set up a paid VPN set location to France and boom games working fine. 7 day money back if Bungie fixes the issue soon.

6 RepliesIf your VPN works, it sounds like BT's going through a mess of routing issues and using the VPN reroutes your connection around the problem area(s). Good find; it sucks that most of the general population can't deal with VPNs or have any clue how to use them but it's nifty that at least one person found a way around the issue.

Thing is everything else working fine. I can stream content and play other games online. Destiny 2 a mess however, unable to connect 90% of time. When I do get to connect Crucible access fails and tower loads unpopulated before erroring and returning to orbit. If everything was failing I might suspect BT but this is unlikely to be their issue. Closer to Bungie end is my guess. Handover of traffic from the UK crossconnect where Bungie side ISP takes delivery. Guess it could be BT kit at that point but I don't have general issues, so not a BT issue network wide. Maybe too many peops logged on and Bungie/ISP suspect DDoS attack 🙂

Works like a charm thank you, using private tunnel via connection to France. I was previously having to use a tethered connection via my mobile phone to access the game :/. Also using BT connection.

And for those of us who don't own a pc?? I'm hoping itl sort itself after a day or 2. I really wanna finish the osiris weapons before I start another game and assassins creed is really making not want to bother with destiny now lol

Will this blow over will BT fix the problem I've been driven up the wall with these errors I'm Xbox one have no idea how to solve this issue and have no idea how deal with network issues
