Destiny 2

Discuss all things Destiny 2.

I never thought me, of all people, would say this.

But I am starting to lose interest in Destiny. And I'm starting to lose it fast. Yesterday, I kept browsing the PlayStation store looking for new games. And then when I closed it out and saw Destiny 2, I just sighed. I just don't understand. How does this even happen? I was expecting Destiny 2 to be everything Destiny 1 was(Post Rise Of Iron) and better. It's not even that. This just feels like a repeat of Vanilla D1. And as much as I hate putting on those stupid rose-tinted glasses, Destiny 1 actually had a raid that was enjoyable. It had fascinating gear with perks that were HELPFUL(Bonus damage to oracles, and extra heavy ammo boots, anyone?) And all the weapons were top-tier, and if they weren't top tier, they were still good. Fatebringer, Found Verdict, Mythoclast, Praedyth's Revenege, Hezen Vengeance, Vision of Confluence. It also gave us a sense of prestige and sense of wonder. Elemental Primaries! A legendary type of weapon that could only be found as a reward from the raid. Obtaining these gave you a sense of power, as on Nightfalls with a burn, your -blam!-ing primary was doing an unreasonable amount of damage. Everything in D2 seems.. Weak. Unimpressive. (Except Legend of Acrius. I love that thing.) I'm a titan main(duh) and in D1, An Insurmountable Skullfort and Dunemarchers were not that appealing to me. But in D2? They're arguably one of the best exotics titans have right now. And they're still the same version from D1! I'm just gonna cut this post short and say this: The Endgame is not fun, and the rewards aren't worth the headache. I'm not gonna do the stupid Exodus Crash strike on prestige because it's BUGGED, IT IS NOT FUN TO DO BECAUSE OF HOW POORLY DESIGNED IT IS, AND BECAUSE OF TIMERS AND THE STUPID TIME ONION RINGS AND ODKWKDJEOWKRNWOWJRJWD And what reward am I gonna get? A duplicate/and or undesired exotic and some tokens? I am 305. These rewards don't mean anything to me anymore. The Prestige raid won't mean anything to me because it doesn't increase light level. The weapons are boring and dull. And the bad part about this is, the community HAS BEEN SAYING THIS SINCE LAUNCH. WE HAVE BEEN SAYING THE SAME -blam!-ING COMPLAINTS SINCE LAUNCH. YOU KNOW WHAT WE GET? WE GET STUPID WEEKLY UPDATES TELLING US SHIT WE ALREADY KNOW AND AT THE VERY -blam!-ING END OF IT, WE GET "We hear you" OR SOME OTHER VAGUE SHIT I. JUST. WANT. ANSWERS. Address each of our problems and give us solutions that you are working on. Getting a "we hear you" every week is demoralizing, Bungie. It really is. I mean, -blam!-. This game has become such a bore that I'm not even motivated to write fan-fictions or some other cringy crap. That at least should tell you how I am feeling. Please. Stop the reskins. Stop half-assing. Talk to us. Give us a roadmap. Do something. I'll still stick around. But I will not be playing as much until something changes. It has to, or you're asking for your game to fail. Come on, Bungie. I know you can do it. All those talented folks up at Seattle can give us all what we've been asking for.

  • Hi Cole, I couldn't agree more with you. I also heavily play PvP and even that is so lackluster right now. All you have left in Trials is the try-hard streamers. I'm sorry but when I'm not competitive unless putting in 60-70 hours a week into a single activity then hey, I'm tapping out. No unique perks, weapons, armor and no class balance equals worse than D1 PvP. Also, NO LESSONS LEARNED! What other industry finds this acceptable, I mean truly it's innovate or die. Unfortunately that is happening. Everything worth grinding for is gone, everyone has to have the same stuff or by default has it because there are no other options in the game. I've played since Beta, have a large clan that I helped found and guess what? I'm enjoying a game like Fortnite which is free. It's also way less stress, D2 is non-stop artificial challenge. Look at the NF and the Raid... I've loved this game through it's low points, high points and quirks. Now I just want to delete it and disband. Hopefully the next DLC will show Bungie is listening, but it's also hard to reverse course once it gets to a certain point. Agree or Disagree, this isn't Destiny anymore...

Deej said last week he he was going to talk to the developers about having the ability to mass delete shaders. There’s your fix.
This is true. Wish I was joking. That’s what they get out of the forums for something to fix: mass....deletion....of...shaders....
• I know a guy who is a playtester for Bungie and the other day, he got to play Curse of Osiris. They alotted 8 hours for the testers to play the expansion. Do you know how long it took them to play the whole thing top to bottom?
4 hours.

4

Hours.
Ouch. My friend told me they were extremely disappointed. 4 hours isn't gonna fly. They'd better be scrambling to give us something more than that before December rolls around.

      • The major thing D2 is suffering from rn is lack of content... AGAIN! There's little to no replayability value in any activity. -Strikes aren't awarding enough to even want to play. Where's the strike exclusive loot!?! In the next DLC? -Crucible probably has the most replayability value in the game, but it gets boring. Everyone uses the MIDA *ahem* excuse me, meta weapons or else they put themselves in a huge disadvantage, which causes less variety -No random weapon rolls is something I actually like, it makes it easier to make the crucible balanced. But Bungie took a step in the wrong direction when doing this, the loot table needs to be MUCH larger than it is, with many weapons across all the different archetypes that each have something different from one another. And I'm not asking for re-skins of weapons already in the game, that's just boring -The Raid itself I think is what it should be, it's something different and adds an element of challenge to a shooter that you don't really get anywheres else. But like the strikes, it just doesn't feel awarding enough! Most of the loot you earn is above average in performance, but there's nothing really unique about them other than visuals. Raid weapons feel like what strike exclusive weapons should be like I'm ashamed to say this but the only thing I could consider playing the game for is to earn Bright Engrams, it's the only real grind in the game and nothing in a Bright Engram really matters. Not to mention how long it takes to get a Bright Engram after your well rested buff disappears. And buying these engrams takes away what little replayability is left in the game! Just to clarify, I do not hate D2. It just really frustrates me that Bungie didn't carry over, let alone improve, what made D1 replayable.
insert I'm not mad just disappointed meme here
• Big people in the community need to start speaking up about these issues more often. My Name is Byf is a primary example of one of the largest community members that needs to throw in some wholesome truths. It is the only way Bungie will pay attention and resolve issues. On the flipside, I'm sure the loss of active players from 4m to 1.6m in one month (and continues to drop) also helps.

            • What bungie should’ve never done was take out the random rolls on the weapons. That’s what I think really killed destiny 2. If you think about it, in D1 people get on to grind for that godly roll on their eyasluna or clever dragon. That’s what kept the grind. Also one thing that I hate was the fact that Bungie brought back some year 1 exotics. I don’t know about any of you, but I thought that was a mistake. Here in D2 I thought we starting fresh with new exotics and all sorts of new stuff. Well that wasn’t the case. Most of all the exotics in the game are at mediocre at best. Exotics aren’t as unique in D2 as they were in D1. How many exotics have you seen people use in the crucible that killed you with....let me guess the Meta Multi-tool. That’s it! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bashing anyone using this gun. It’s a great gun! Though I’m just stating that there’s not enough variety when it comes to exotic selection. Whether it’s in PVE or PVP. I can go into the whole re-skin situation, but I won’t. Given Bungies been doing this since D1 due to their lack of creativity and imagination. Lastly, I will say that I do find myself putting less hours in for D2 than I did with D1. Still love the game though....just playing less on it now.

              • I agree every words u said. I have put 1500 hours into D1 but I like how it designed is. D2 is almost dead to me, I have completed every quests in three characters, YES! Doing three same runs. Only to keep myself entertained is pvp (no thanks it is very bad in pvp hated (4x4), rolls are same, this game designed for (causal player, screw it) and nightfall timer sucked. This game gonna put you into stress mode. Milestones and raid got too bored prestige raid means nothing only for challenge who likes to have very challenging raid.

From a content stand point Destiny has always been lacking when compared to other MMORPG's. That is why I don't think there should have been a sequel. I think they should have continued to add on expansions to the original and what an expansion this would have been. Maybe could have been broken into a couple updates even to buy some more time. When I first heard bungie was going whole new game rather than continue to expand like traditional MMORPG's, I tried to tell myself 'okay, Bungies a little new to this scene. We'll call D1 a trial run and D2 is gonna essentially have content on the level of maybe midway through D1's run. Several strikes and maybe two raids more stuff to do in areas, etc. It'll be real polished and will hit the ground running' so to speak. Certainly it would have most every feature D1 had (ummmm why are heavy machine guns gone?) Well as you've noted, Brave Cole, that isn't the feeling you get playing D2. It feels like we're starting all over and Bungie didn't really learn anything. Don't get me wrong, I know they had to have learned some things. There is a lot to like about D2, but a lot of QoL changes don't seem like changes for the better. I wouldn't say they're necessarily worse, they're just......changes. Which begs the question why were they made? The only answer I can come up with is based on some of the PR prior release I've heard on various podcasts and it's this over all theme of community. A wanting of all inclusiveness and everyone being able to experience and have everything even if you're a so called 'lone wolf' player and things being accessible for the more casual. This is reflected in the simplification of class skill trees and customization of weapons and armor. Legendary armor is basically cosmetic it appears. Myself on the scale of casual to hard core I would say I'm just a bit shy of hard core and despite what I feel are some missteps I still want to give bungie the benefit of the doubt. The game has been out for just a little over a month. The playable content that is there is good imo. It's these odd minor changes that I'm finding the most frustrating.

                    • I’ve put in 119 hours on this game and while I’m very close to getting to 305 on all characters I’m not there yet. Hardcore fans want more and I can’t blame them, Iron Banner was awesome, I put in a lot of hours on it and got my warlock armor but I feel like it’s worthless. Just new skins. The raid is not fun at all and has becoming increasingly difficult to beat for me, this game needs more weekly content that isn’t token collecting.

                      • If you combined d1 and d2 you would end up with : 5 raids 20ish crucible maps Multiple crucible game types 10+ strikes with medals and scoring Lots of legendary and exotics to collect And 8 planets to explore. Basicly a decent game to keep you playing. Instead we got 2 meh games. Why not combine them bungie ?

Who ever came up with the mods and gear is a -blam!-ing moron. Now we can't even choose which set to use for looks because stats are tied to them. Like this set but it has high mobility and no recovery? Guess you'll have to wear ugly shit instead. Even worse, instead of having mods just increase discipline, strength, and intellect they increase charge rate for only a specific subclass, so you need different sets for every slot per subclass, instead of only switching around one or two pieces when switching subclass Another great example of the classic bungie philosophy: if it ain't broke, lets -blam!- it all up anyways

Took them 3 years to fix trash and it's still worse off. You prefer D1 delete D2 and go play D1, don't come back when the dlc drops because you'll just be a hypocrite like everyone else that says this game sucks.

                            • I logged roughly 2400 hours in D1... yes.. I know... But I only mention this as a testament to how much I enjoyed D1 (even with its rough edges). For the life of me, I cant understand this notion of catering to the "casuals." It does not make sense to me at all?? D1 had casuals, it had weekenders, and it had hardcores, and it was very popular (hence the reason for a D2). For whatever the player base WAS.. it seemed to work for D1, and they stuck around for the most part. Was Bungie trying to get the group that plays a game for maybe 20-40 hours and then moves on??? D1 had a dedicated follow BECAUSE of the type of game it was... a grindy, loot based, sometimes annoying, sometimes exciting, awesome, shooter that you played with friends, and enjoyed time together BECAUSE you were chasing that elusive drop. I think what frustrates me the most (as with most in the forums as of late) is the omittance of everything that made D1 good fun? There seemed to always be something to chase and not everything was just GIVEN to you. You felt awesome when you finally got that piece of gear that had elemental burn or a special perk that made it feel great... you celebrated with your friends, and you had a sense of accomplishment.. THEN you got to spend time upgrading it to be even stronger!! In D2, (like everyone else in my clan), we have acquired all the exotics, were all 305, done the horrible raid, and now we are bored. No sense of accomplishment, nothing else to chase, NOTHING to do! Bungie.. if you want this franchise to be great and get even better.. DONT change your model from something that WAS working. D1 with its issues still had an amazing following (EVEN WITH ITS GRINDING, AND DIFFICULTIES)... A lot of people mention Warframe (my current game of choice right now) and there is good reason... it has elements that are similar to what made D1 great. Its a game that is all about the journey, you feel epic when fighting, its grindy.. and NOT afraid to challenge its players when it comes to customization, and micro-managing. I don't suggest following Warframes model, but you could definitely learn a lot from them in terms of implementation, and structure.

                            • It's s mile wide game that's only an inch deep buddy. No lore in the game you have to venture out to the internet to find anything to keep you sucked in. The same characters for 4 years we know nothing about. Same alien baddies that stand still and let you shoot them in the head. It's a space game that we can't even fly around the galaxy in besides cinematics. It has so much potential to be amazing but takes a step back majority of the time an update comes around. Armor and weapons feel less personal and micro transactions are noe bigger than they've ever been. I enjoy it sometimes, but what it could be lingers around for me too much to get sucked in to such a shallow storyline. I mean the darkness was a liquid in 3 vex primes, now it's in triangle ships. We know nothing about it or the traveler or even the speaker and they've had 4 years to show us. It's okay man, it happens.
