Destiny 2 could do a Mass Effect 2

So a way to run Destiny 1 into Destiny 2 could be to have some catastrophic death/disaster intro to wipe the slate clean for character progression similar to the opening for Mass Effect 2. So maybe the city gets attacked (maybe in the way some recent rumours have suggested) and we fend off the attackers using one of our current guardians and ultimately fail. Our guardian could die and our ghost could escape and be left to wander. Some time could pass and our ghost could find our new guardian. Perhaps these guardians could display some special qualities like those of our Destiny 1 guardians. This would give us a new character to level up and a familiar companion that could sing the praises of our old guardian. The time gap could also allow the story to be pushed on a bit and give time for some interesting events and story hooks to come about. In the meantime the iron lords (or the vanguard maybe) have created some monument in our honour (maybe a statue in the iron temple) and ghost would want to bring us there. Here we could collect any potential loyalty rewards as engrams based on our Destiny 1 accomplishments. This could also be done in a social space where we could go and look up any player's legend similarly to what's displayed in the companion app. Thoughts?

Destiny is basically just a Power Fantasy, Action, FPS (kind of MMORPG). That First part though is what makes me think that our D1 characters will survive. Some people might not grasp it when they make suggestions like our D1 characters getting killed off. Destiny became a Power Fantasy after TDB or Crota's End. We killed a God so what can beat us now. The Power Fantasy Aspect became huge after we killed Oryx right? At this point, normal enemies can't fight us on fair ground. The thing is is that Bungie took tips from Bethesda about how to make a Power Fantasy. They tell you early on about the fact that you are a god but they forget to remind you when the minor threats come along. An example of this is how it was never brought up that you killed Crota in TDB when you were playing HoW. Malok should have sh*t his pants when he saw us walk towards him. We killed Oryx who was way more powerful than Malok but they don't remind you. My Bethesda Power Fantasy example is Skyrim. Remember when you killed Alduin, the World Eater, he's a god but when you tell Serana's mother that you'll kill Lord Harkon, the Vampire Lord. She laughs at you even though your the Dragonborn who has already killed a God. Bungie pasted that into Destiny. Destiny is still a Power Fantasy, you have a Legendary Status as God-slayer, Vault-raider, and Kingtakers. So when people tell me that a Cabal Invasion will put down our D1 Guardian, I shake my head. We have killed God's before but how will some Psions kill The Lord Guardian. We just became Iron Lords, you think that's gonna be short lived? No. That's another Power Fantasy mistake. If being an Iron Lord is so special, then why don't the Vanguard call us Lord or Lady Guardian. It doesn't matter if they are a higher rank but it matters if they respect us, which they should. Rant over.
